Question:

Do wireless home phones emit radiation?

I have a series of 5.8GHz Digital wireless digital phones from Radioshack. There are about three, and each one has its own little charging-thing that simply plugs into an electrical outlet. Each charge-thing then transmits a signal to the main station in another region of the house, with that one going into the phone line. Do these types of wireless home phones emit any radiation at all? And if so, is it sufficient enough an amount to do much of anything at all?

  1. A wireless phone is actually a 2-way radio.  It both sends and receives radio frequencies.  In your case in the 5.8 GHz region.  This is electromagnetic radiation.  But the power level is very low.  There has been no concerns about the amount of RF these types of phones emit to my knowledge.
