  1. In my personal experience women get paid the same as men in archaeology. There is no reason to assume that men automatically make more money. I have had women crew chiefs, field supervisors and project leaders and they all made good money. Archaeology is no longer a "men's club". Anthropologists are liberal, as everyone should be haha.

  2. no they dont. if anything its less.

  3. Depending on where they work, it is usually the same to a bit less, though I have to say that archaeology is one of the few fields where a large number of supervisors I have seen have been women.  For details on how the genders compare check out the Society for American Archaeology's Salary Survey (2005) Appendix C breaks down gender differences (saa.org/membership/survey/appendixC.pdf... ).

The entire survey is available at saa.org/membership/survey/

  4. It should be equal pay.

  5. Better pay?  You're kidding, right?  If anything, women across the board get paid less than men!

  6. In all jobs/careers, women average less annual income than men.

Not all institutions will particiapate in wage discrimination, though. But on average....

  7. afraid of a little competition....try a sock in the pants

  8. I don't know.... but they should!
