Do women need men for anything other than reproduction?

Now that technology has advanced so far that brute strength isn't required any more, are men necessary, are they just convenient, or are they getting in the way?

LOL of coarse women need men.  Everyone needs someone to love and make them feel good about themselves.  This is what partners do, not just have s*x.  I almost want to say I feel sorry for you because you have to ask this sort of question.  Good luck.

The question seems more sexist than anything else, but maybe I can shed some light on it. It's been said that women and men think differently chemically. We approach life from different angles. Both sexes have made major contributions to humanity. With that being said, a man needs a woman in his life to round out the differences and to be able to see things in a different light, and the same goes for women. We cant look at life from all angles, a man will see it differently than a woman just as a woman will see things differently than a man. To be able to get through life with a wider spectrum, find an intelligent companion to share it with.

yeah,i'd say that they r, in fact just in the way and aren't really necessary especially with all of these sperm banks around!

But me being a female meself,i've gotta admit that the world would be a dimmer place if it lost the glimmer of all of those undeniably beautiful men-candy whom i love just admiring!(for i don't much care for their intellects or conversation!)

Actually, technology has advanced so far that women might not even need men to reproduce. It's possible to make 'artificial' s*x cells from women that will join with a woman's ova and create new life. Women do not need men to reproduce. Of course, having a man around to donate sperm is easier.

As for the rest of your question, I'd have to admit I like men, they're good for s*x. Essentially or psychologically, spiritually and intellectually, I believe that men and women are naturally androgenous and learn gender through enculturation. Our true selves have no gender, but sexually speaking, I enjoy the p***s! A world without men wouldn't be so fun.

I don't look at a man as a s*x object but as a needed part of society to fulfill the role that only a man can fill. A another woman cannot do that for me.  A woman was made for a man and not a man made for a woman. He initiates a relationship catered to his likes. There are women who are forward and does the initiating but get twisted in the game. The bible says, "a man that finds a wife finds a good thing." It also states that we need each other. From an evolutionary perspective, men are definitely needed.  Women are more tolerant of genetic defects.  Over time, they tend to accrue within women.  Males, on the other hand, have a greater tendency to manifest genetic faults and then not be selected for reproduction, decreasing the incidence of genetic pathology over time.

Additionally, because of the propensity for men to spread their genes, good combinations are much more likely to be shared.

From a behavioral perspective, most/many women only respond sexually to men.  Eliminating men essentially leaves these women without sexual companionship.

Finally, with the potential for cloning and selective organ growth, the argument could also be made about why men need women...

(The elitist, inflammatory tone of the original post suggests that asker probably confuses the current cultural role of males with the more basic male function in society.  It's a little short sighted on their part and I suggest they try investigating the more biological aspects of gender behaviors before taking this line of thought too seriously.)

I think relationships, in general, get in the way of certain vocations, or ambitions; it's not an issue of gender. But if you're wondering whether women are beginning to see men as distracting, as men once perceived women to be, then the answer is a big yes. But we still need them to mow our lawns ;)
