Do women with worthless men just accept that it is the best they can do?

The women know that the man is worthless, but stick around anyway. Why is that?.

women will stay with a poor help-mate for many different reasons.  sometimes they are codependent and derive self worth from their own perceived martyrdom.  sometimes they suffer from low self esteem and would rather be with a bad guy than no guy.  sometimes they have a child together and don't want to deprive the child from a relationship with it's biological father.  sometimes she thinks her love and understanding will change him.  but i think most often she just refuses to accept the disconnect between her fantasy and reality.

As others said, low self-esteem, and the real (but wrong) belief that he will "change." (He keeps promising to change, don't you know.)

I'm not sure they accept it.  I think they keep hoping the guy will be responsible.  Many women I know were dating charming guys, who worked, and schmoozed women.  But there was a limit to their patience, and eventually they just either left, and got their own apartment, and let the poor cretin fend for himself.  There are however, some women who have such low self esteem, they are willing to put up with this lack of responsibility, and stays in the relationship. No many tho.

Gee, because he's the most beautiful man in the world. A wonderful lover. Because he is so sweet to me and a gentleman and makes me feel like I'm the only one he loves when he holds me. And yet, he cheats on me. And I'm such a little beauty. And fun and warm and easygoing and because I am easy to get along with, I continue to let him hurt me.
