This question is from a soldier currently serving in the iraqi theater of operations. Obama came to visit and stayed in the safety of the IZ. McCain came and toured many FOBs and mingled with the soldiers not just the brass as Obama did. From a soldiers point of view the solution to the Iraqi problem is not withdrawal but, reconstruction and doing everything we can to get this country back on its own feet!!!

  1. I don't give a sh*t. That's your country, not mine.

  2. First, thank you for serving!

And you are most definitely correct. The democrasses and CNN don't want us to know that you guys have done a great job over there. They only want to tear down our military and president in front of the whole world. But the real men and women know the truth.

Bama is a whimp.and has absolutely no right to be in the running, he couldn't even fix his own states problems in the very very short time he was in the senate. and know he thinks he can run the greatest country in the world.

And especially when he doesn't even like America.

    McCain 08!

Keep on trucking buddy. Say hi to my 2 soldiers while your there!

    God bless!

  3. Prior experience in the military is not a test to a successful presidency.  Look at Eisenhower.  A great general but a very poor president.  Look at Ronald Reagan, never a soldier but a successful president.

  4. Yes, I do.

Someone who has military experience is more likely to declare war and fight wars.

  5. Not to be mean or blunt but technically speaking our nation has always had a battle with some country or other nation.  This has been going on since George Washington became president and unless world peace suddenly breaks out tomorrow people in the military will be sent somewhere for something a hundred years from now.

I'm not going to start a debate about the pros and cons of war with Iraq but to answer your question there have been several presidents in the office while our nation was at war:

Abraham Lincoln- was a lawyer with no military experience and helped the north during the Civil War

JFK and Nixon- The US had the cold war happening and our entry into Vietnam. Also, two people with limited political experience.

Ronald Reagan-  Last I checked before becoming president was an actor and led our nation to the end of the Cold War, through Iran Contra and paved the way to the end of a divided Germany.

I could find many other of our presidents that have this lack of experience but to me a person who is naive at something learns more and is more open to change and success with a problem than someone who's "been there done that".  McCain has his ideas set and Obama it may be the same way but only time will tell.

  6.   I think in order to be commander and chief, military experience should be a requirement

  7. Well Nemo he sure as h**l can not do worse than the AWOL 1st. Lt. from the TANG that has cost this country so much for his determination to establish his "legacy" for a lie now can he?

  8. If you consider Dubya having military experience, then yes, we need a non military eye on this issue.  All the yes men and women have got us in a terrible mess and the real criminal who started all this is laughing his a** off at us.

  9. Why not? A village idiot with no military experience got us into this vile, unconstitutional, illegal, immoral 'war' just so his wealthy friends could get richer.

I'd like a new leader who can get us OUT of this corrupt 'war'- regardless of his military experience, or lack thereof.   -RKO-  08/24/08

  10. Tell that soldier that we had two Presidents who led this nation through two world wars in the 20th Century and neither of those two Presidents had ever served in the military. In fact, both would have been medically disqualified from serving if they had taken a physical for entry. President Wilson had a history of a stroke in 1905 and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt had polio and was confined to a wheel chair.

Also tell that soldier that I served under seven Presidents, from Eisenhower to Reagan. Five in a row were former Navy officers. With the exception of Kennedy's use of a Naval blockade of Cuba during the 1962 missile crisis, none of the five showed any great appreciation for the application of sea power.

I agree that reconstruction is task one now that Iraqi security forces have been trained and are taking over many of the defense functions in that nation. In fact, I wish my community in Southern Nevada could get some of those solar-powered street lights being installed in Baghdad. We have 347 days of sunshine a year and it would save a lot of energy costs in a growing area.

Please don't take my remarks as a defense of Senator Obama. To the contrary. Senator McCain is a friend and a shipmate. I'll be voting for electors pledged to his election this November.
