listening to NPR > Tery Gross was interviewing this scientiest, he explained how " off course" America is in thinking bottled water is better than muncipal sources. Our pollution footprint is SOOO big in America!

  1. Well, not exactly, Ive not given it a lot of thought, but until those resources get rare enough to raise the price significantly people are going to continue to purchase bottled water.  . .

Then too, you have to realize that when it comes from a municipal water source, it is purified by reverse osmosis and carbon filtered, which gives it a better taste than most municipal supplies. .

In the big picture, I would venture to say the footprint for that is pretty small when compared with use of a computer and the internet. .  especially for someone using an older moniter. .Oh and dont forget all that pesky plastic used in computers, , , and the lead in the old style moniters.. . .

Were all gonna die. . .

or another way to look at it,

No one gets out of this world alive!

  2. I have no idea where this bottled water craze comes from!  It is out of control.  I drink tap water!

I don't think people realize that those plastic bottles were made with oil.  While you can recycle them they can only be recycled so many times.  There is a ton of carbon emissions released in the manufacture of those bottles.

  3. If you compared plastic to glass you would realize the fallacy of your argument.  By switching to plastic we actually conserve and reduced the amount of oil, energy, and pollution it takes to create a bottle of water.

I'm guessing that this isn't good enough for you and your true goal is to force everyone to give up bottled water for what?  Th "common good"?

  4. You are absolutely right. The bottled water issue is a much bigger deal than is understood. Water is the delivery system in the body taking in the good and bringing out the bodies waste.

Our body is also a very intricate electrical unit that requires conduction, structured cell water and electrically charged water. You also need to drink your weight divide by 2 in ounces everyday...if a man weighs 200lbs, his body uses 100 ounces a day and hence the importance of the weight divide by 2.

Bottled water comes from a public water source(tap water) but the bottled water companies filter it many times with reverse osmosis. That means you have clean water and too clean because it has lost conductivity with cleansing the water. Here is the news article on bottled water companies having to declare the source of water. http://www.cbc.ca/consumer/story/2007/07...

Bottled water should be banned because in the end, health of the body may be compromised electrically(did you know distilled water is an insulator?) The landfill issues are another factor why we don't want to have to process their garbage while they sell tap water for more than gasoline.

SanFrancisco banned bottled water and plastic bags. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/envi...

I wanted to qualify the issue more so here is a link to a study on water completed by a student. Look at the link and think of this "your body is made of water, pick one".

  5. yes, but plastic is slightly better then glass or metals. anyhow we should all attempt to just drink tap water it is exactly the same at a fraction of the cost.

  6. And why do you think these people know better than millions of consumers making free choices in a free market?  The cost of all that fuel, energy and oil is included in the cost of bottled water.   If people still choose to purchase it over the much less costly tap water in their house, they must believe that it is worth this extra cost.  Who are you, Terry Gross or "this scientist" to say they are wrong.

Personally, I almost never use bottled water, but that is my choice and I respect others choices to do as they wish.
