Question:

Do yogurt and active dry yeast really help cats?

I read this in a cat book somewhere. If they do, how much should I give them? Is it safe for kittens, too? I have plain yogurt and dry yeast at home right now and I'm debating whether or not to give it to them. I will not if it won't help them in any way.

Thank you!!!

  1. Yogurt with active cultures is good for cats who've got diarrhea, or have been on antibiotics, and it doesn't hurt them to have a spoon or so as a treat.  But I've never heard of using yeast - what is that for?

  2. A better way would be to get some acidoupholous from a health food store and sprinkle it in the food. That's the ingrediant they are talking

    about .

You are feeding canned foods I hope

  3. I have had cats for years and have NEVER heard of this "remedy" I wouldnt do it...the plain yogurt wont hurt them, but cats are lactose intolerant and they cant handle much and the dry yeast I have NO idea why you would give them that...

  4. I've used plain yogurt to help relieve my cats diarrhea problems, works pretty well, as for yeast it should possibly help with hair and skin issues.
