Do yorkies and cats get along? I am in the process of purchasing a new yorkie and am a little concerned.

My cat is a very sweet female cat, she's persian. But will she take to the new puppy coming in to invade her space? Any pointers??? I do not want to get rid of my cat, but I have always wanted a yorkie and can finally afford one.

Of course all animals have their differences, but I had that same question and as soon as I brought my yorkie home, the cats were wondering what he was. As a couple of days passed, they were best friends! I have two cats and a yorkie and they act as it they all had the same mother!

Well we had cats when we got a yorkie. they all just kept to their selves but it all depends on the cat and dog.. You never know

cats are very territorial its in their nature.  when bringing in a new animal don't just stick them in a room together.  keep them in separate rooms to start and everyday bring the dog or cat into the other room and everyday add more and more time that there together and soon they will be used to having each other.

it really depends on the individual animals.i have 2 dogs and a cat . 1 dog loves the cat the other hates her .the dogs are from the same litter. the cat tolerates both dogs and us [her servants] please don't get rid of your cat .when you took her on , it was for life . she is your child , not a piece of furniture
