  1. Astronomy is a science. Astrology is a myth based on some astronomical misconceptions. Astrology is only good in literature and for people who don't want to take responsibility for their actions. When things don't work out, they have something to blame their misfortune on.

The only affect any heavenly body has that we can see is when the moon and sun line up in certain ways to create high and low tides.  We are way too small for those bodies to have any effect on us as individuals. It is physically impossible for the stars and other planets to have any effect on us. No matter how they're aligned.

  2. The force of gravity acts as the square of distance, so is miniscule other than the Sun and Moon. There is no physical force to explain any connection. Causality is not shown.

  3. No, if that where the case then everybody born on the same day, month, and year would act the same. That would be great for law enforcement though, "Hey! Everybody born on ??/??/???? is going to be a criminal, lets arrest them now before they kill someone." Doesn't work that way.

  4. Probably best to leave actual science, such as astronomy, out of fantasy, such as astrology.

People have tried to make a case for gravitational influence from the Moon being somehow responsible for aberrant, mostly temporary, human behavior.

They failed to make the case and the stars have absolutely no possible influence on human behavior, save with the confused and uninformed mind.

  5. well scientist are sure that the moon affects our behavior....during a full moon the emergency services see an increase in call outs...violent crime increases..accidents....the saying "must be a full moon came from somewhere!!! so I'd say if the moon can affect us there's always a possibility that the other planets could!!!

  6. How would they?

A guy standing next to you exerts more gravitational force on your body than Jupiter or Saturn does.

  7. Not at all. I've always thought horoscopes were hilarious - every Capricorn in the world is gonna have the same kind of day today? I think not.

    Edit: Still no.

  8. No, the stars and planets do NOT affect human behavior.

And furthermore, you're confused between AstroNOMY and AstroLOGY.

Astronomy is the study of objects and matter outside the earth's atmosphere and of their physical and chemical properties.  It is a science.

Astrology is the divination of the SUPPOSED influences of the stars and planets on human affairs and terrestrial events by their positions and aspects.

Astrology is NOT a science.  It is not real.  If the planets affected human behavior, by their positions, then there would have to be some "force" the planets exerted, by which to do so.

There are only four fundamental forces of nature; gravity, electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force.

The strong and weak nuclear forces only work on small scale, like on atoms and sub-atomic particles.  So those two are automatically ruled out.

If gravity were the mechanism that astrology and the planets used, then earth would affect EVERYONE and far off objects like Neptune would affect NO ONE.  Moreover, everyone would be affected in exactly the same way, meaning there would only be a need for ONE horoscope each day.

If electromagnetism were the mechanism that astrology and the planets used, then the Sun, which is by far the largest EM source in our solar system, would affect everyone, and again, the other planets would have little or no effect, and there would only be a need for one daily horoscope that would apply to everyone.

Horoscopes are weak and vague.  They don't work.  It's not possible to predict the future.  The laws of physics say the best we can do is predict a probably outcome for a situation, and those probabilities are based on very precise mathematical equations that have been tested and proven over many years.

Please read the link below (bad astronomy) for a very detailed and complete explanation of why Astrology isn't real and why the stars and planets and their positions exert absolutely NO influence over human behavior.  I've paraphrased a little of it for you here, and hopefully it's enough to whet your interest and you'll read the entire article, which was written by a professional astronomer.

    Take care.  :-)
