  1. I R Clever!

  2. I think this world is not going to last much longer, and global warming is the least of our worries.

  3. Yes, Global Warming is occurring, and will eventually result in Abrupt Climate Change to cold.  The Gulf Stream which carries warmth from the tropics to North America and western Europe is being diluted by rapidly melting ice caps.  Its salinity keeps it moving, but the dilution may shut it down, possibly bringing on another Ice Age or another "Little Ice Age" like the one just a few hundred years ago which caused widespread famine.  This would cause loss of life, but I don't think it would happen that soon.  But, who knows how long it will take if Global Warming continues and accelerates?

The dire predictions for 2012, however are taken from other sources. The Mayan Calendar was ended at December 21, 2012, predicting the end of an age.  That could, of course, be related to the Abrupt Climate Change, but there is also an alignment with the Galactic Center on that date.  Some people think this will bring about the end of the world.

The problem with that scenario is that this happens every 26,000 years.  The Earth has been here for 4.5 billion years and humans for about 200,000 years.  That means we have been through 7 of these alignments and we are still here.  The Earth has been through it 173,076 times and is still here.

Others are saying that a polar shift will occur at that time.  That is impossible to predict scientifically, but we had a polar shift when the undersea earthquake that produced the Tsunamis occurred.  We wouldn't have known it had happened if scientists hadn't detected and reported it.

If a 180 degree polar reversal were to occur, that would be far worse, but scientists have only found where that has happened once in the past, so I would say it is highly unlikely
