Do you HAVE to have a passport to go to Cozumel, Mexico? if not must you have an original birth surtificate?

  1. Both of the previous answers are off base...no matter WHO you are or what your age, you MUST have a passport to FLY to Mexico...this has been the law for over a year.  See site below and read top half of page carefully.  You will not be allowed on the flight without a passport.  It is taking 4 to 6 weeks to get a passport normally. You can have it expedited and get it in 2 to 3 weeks.   There is another option...there are 14 regional passport agencies in the U.S.  If you happen to live near enough to one, you can call for an app't, go, wait, and get your passport the sme day.  See 2nd site for list.  as a minor nder 16, BOTH parents must appear with you when you turn in your passport application..


  2. If you are US citizen, you need passport. If you are a permanent resident you need your "green card" and visa to visit Mexico.

  3. If you are flying and you are 16 or older then yes you will need a passport.  This has been a law since January 2007.
