Question:

Do you IM your friends immediately when they get online?

I have a friend who consistently IMs me immediately after I appear online. It's a little frustrating because I haven't even gotten opened Firefox to check my email, news, blogs, etc. and he IMs me.

I've been thinking about IM etiquette (if there is such a thing...) as while I understand getting online would indicate you want to talk to people. Yet I have friends in my list that I don't talk to all the time or at all.

I've tried ignoring him, letting him know it's not a good time to talk, busy handling other things, etc., but he still IMs me as soon as I get online. I know sometimes I do this with my other friends, but nowadays I usually give them a few minutes before initiating a conversation.

Thoughts, anyone?

  1. well yea i do it only if its something important thats about it other than that nah i wait like 10 min or so

  2. That's annoying, I had the same bloody problem with one of my friends. The solution, I blocked, what did I told him when he asks why I don't respond him: I wasn't online, maybe you're PC has a hacker, spyware or virus. But I think (if is not an life/death situation) is rude to IM as soon you're online. You feel like chased or something like that :S
