Do you REALLY belive in "global warming"???

Or do you just belive whatever Al Gore and the tree huggers tell you to?

Personally, I have indeed realized that "global warming" is a scam and a "communist plot" if you will. You?

  1. It is not based on "faith" in Al Gore or environmentalist groups.  It is based on science.

GW has been a known phenomenom for years, before Al Gore and his documentary made it so well-known.

At this point, it is becoming well enough understood that even Republicans can't pretend it doesn't exist anymore.

If you don't like the way the government is handling it, that's one thing.  Feel free to speak out about that, write your senator, protest, or whatever you like.

But who are you to say that all those scientists are wrong?

  2. Global warming is nothing but a quasi-religious movement that is put forward by a bunch of zealots, evangelists, charlatans, and useful idiots who are attempting to institute their Marxist agenda upon the entire population. Real science is always up for debate. I do agree with you that global warming has a lot of communist ploys within their agenda. For instance, trying to tell everyone what kind of car they should drive, what temperature you need to set your thermostat to, how much energy you should use, and so on and on.

  3. I love and hate this debate. I love it because I love debating. I hate it because so many people equate me to a n**i or some other horrible historic figure when they hear my opinion. Oh well. Here goes.

In this day and age, when you go to a research company and ask them to perform a study, you will be asked what you want them to find. They will then figure out some way to reach that finding. Therefore about the only "research" I believe these days is that which finds proof against the organization that funded it. That means that, try as they might, they just couldn't find anything to support what that organization wanted them to find.

Global warming is happening. That's been studied and found. You can argue the research methods that found this until you're blue in the face, but personally, I accept it. What I find interesting and what turns everyone away from me is that there is not one single imperical piece of evidence linking humans to global warming. Environmental groups have been trying to establish that link for decades now and it just doesn't appear to be there.

Now, should we continue with efforts to stop pollution and conserve energy? Yes! Polution is having other adverse effects on our environment. It's causing a rise in cancer and other diseases. Acid rain is killing many ecosystems and destroying historical monuments. But I digress.

My stand on the issue is this: Continue on the path for a "greener earth" and all that, but don't do it from behind a Global Warming flag. Just do it because you believe it's the right thing to do.

  4. YEAH  ISN'T THAT IN THE BIBLE   HAHAHAHAH

  5. I know it's real, and so do these guys.  They're not tree huggers, Al Gore fans, or even liberals.

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"National Review (the most prestigious conservative magazine) published a cover story calling on conservatives to shake off denial and get into the climate policy debate"

"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air.  We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”

"I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial."

Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

    The bottom line:

This is science and what counts is the data, not people's intuition.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

EVERY major scientific organization has issued an official statement that this is real, and mostly caused by us.  The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

  6. YEAH!!!!!!! it's not a "whether you believe it or not" issue anymore. It's a well documented fact! Do you even realize it's been proven?! If you're still one of those few who are still in denial against all facts and reason, seriously, GROW A FREAKING BRAIN!!! this is just as stupid as asking "Do you REALLY believe in cells?" You are so stupid! I hate republican jerks like you!

  7. that would be a big fat no

  8. Yes-- I believe the temp has risen about 1/2 of one degree over the last 80 years--- WHY is a completely different question.

  9. I feel Rentacop said it best. Because, we did go through a small period of global warming. We are now experiencing a cool down phase, no matter what the AGW proponents try to tell you. In another topic entitled Arctic Meltdown, Rick gave an answer with links to NOAAs heat images in it, one from 6/07/2007 and another from 6/09/2008 and two things I noted. The first one was that the Arctic Ocean appeared to be more frozen this year than in 2007 and the second thing I noticed was the tropical part of the ocean is cooler this year than last year.

So people go ahead believe what you want to believe and I sure hope it helps keep you warm this coming Winter.

Here's the link to the NOAA - Coral Reef watch site. It's very interesting to note that the Caribbean is cooler this year at this time than last year. http://www.osdpd.noaa.gov/PSB/EPS/SST/ss...

  10. Okay, so everyone's talking about whether global warming is real or not... personally, I believe it's real... And to those who say we're just having a climate change, well, duh, it's just another term for global warming! go check wikipedia out if you don't believe me..

May it be real or not, don't you think conserving energy, or saving forests, or recycling makes sense? Resources aren't exactly unlimited, you know?

So what if Al Gore and other people were wrong, or even I am? That doesn't mean we won't  try and just do our part... Are we just going to act when it's too late? Will we say, "oh, so there is global warming!" when the temp's too high we can't bear it?

    think about it..

  11. No because people just ask to be green so everyone has clean air to breath and clean ocean water and sand to swim and walk on, so thats why me and alot of people believe in being green.

  12. u have a point.. but its happening infront of our eyes and u cant avoid it... the ice caps up north r in fact melting

  13. I don't believe in it. It's just climate change. My science teacher said that we were in a mini ice age and are coming out of it. There's no global warming. It's all natural.

P.S.- ur right. we shouldn't believe all the stuff people throw at you.

  14. YOU should use spelling check before posting questions, you misspelled believe to " Belive".

And BTW, you are very ignorant because you are not even aware of what's happening in the world! Summer is getting longer than the average time, temperature is getting higher than the past few years. I don't care of what Al Gore says, i just want to believe global warming. PERIOD!!

And i don't care if you give my answer millions of thumbs-down.

    I agree with xfuneral's answer. It's a documented fact!

If you don't wanna believe, then fine!

Let's just wait until you get heatstroke and skin cancer for not being aware of global warming because global warming could cause heatstroke and skin cancer and it's already proven!

I also agree with Bob's answer:

"EVERY major scientific organization has issued an official statement that this is real, and mostly caused by us."

View his profile, aren't you gonna believe a scientist?

    HE IS a scientist.

And how could global warming be a hoax when rising carbon dioxide levels have been linked to rising temperatures and mass extinctions in the past?!? Think about it, if you don't believe in global warming, then why aren't you showing any evidence that it is not true?!? Because people who believe in global warming have lots of evidence that it really exists!

And manda's answer is also right! It is not based on faith to Al Gore, it is based on science.

And why are you giving Bob ten thumbs-down? He is actually right! He is a scientist, you think you are greater than a scientist?

  15. Global warming MAY be happening, but it is first and foremost not a man made problem. Secondly, it's not even a problem. Here are the best videos on the matter:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruuux4AuH...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cElkco-h...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZrhG2iT3...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hD0_W582H...

Anyways... It is simply like every other emotionally based argument-it brings in TONS of MONEY!!! Did you know that when you buy a car that is a "gas guzzler" (including sports cars, not just my beloved SUV) you pay an additional tax called a "gas guzzler tax"-and that tax is on top of the registration (tax to own a car in your state) and the actual taxes that are called taxes. Also, we pay taxes at the pump and pay for the taxes the oil companies have to pay. Gov gets $0.15 on the dollar in revenue from oil companies, and the government doesn't do ANYTHING for that money-just stealing it through taxes... on the other hand, the gas companies are getting about $0.05 on the dollar (give or take) for oil. They have to pay for exploration, ATTORNEYS, insurance, etc... people do not think about all that goes into owning a business, not to mention a HUGE business with TONS of employees. And it's not the heads of exxon mobil, there are also share holders... good night, people demonize anyone who is rich, but ***** when people are poor... is it we're all supposed to be equally poor, then it's "fair"? Anyways, that's off topic..

Global warming is the latest fad, but sadly, it's a big money maker, unlike the hole in the ozone fad, so I have a sick feeling that even if all of America woke up to Al's cry for money and attention, that the gov would never let up because it makes too much money, and gives them more control over the private sector-ie, telling me I can ONLY use ugly spirally light bulbs that will emit toxic mercury into my home should I break one so I have to go to great lengths to clean up said lightbulb, just look at the epa's website. Not only that, but now in various areas we can't burn WOOD in fireplaces because it MIGHT spew toxic c**p into the atmosphere (give me a flipping break, wood is a natural substance, but it's ok to burn PELLETS??? WHAT THE ****?!?!)...

Anyways, so there you go, I'm another brainless flat earther, and that's ok, because the eart is flat in this situation. Sorry chicken littles, the ice caps aren't melting because of man, and using different bulbs isn't going to prevent anything in nature from happening. If the crisis is so imminent, then NOTHING we do will stop it, so buy a bathing suit and a floaty rubber duck intertube and have fun!

Add: "Manda", your argument is nice, but how can your side discount the thousands of scientists who have come out and said the exact OPPOSITE of what you just said? Are all of them to be refuted or maybe you just believe what the news tells you without critical analysis?

  16. A lot of people believe in Bigfoot!! That takes faith because theres no real proof. A lot of people attend church because they believe in God, that's takes faith. Well the people who believe in GW have MAJOR faith because that theory can't be proved either. They are like jehadists or cult members. They do and say crazy things because "someone" more important than them told them too, we should feel sorry for them and try to help them out of their delusions.

If you have a brain, you clearly weren't using it while responding to this question.

AGW is a theory. Theories can't be proven and they definitely cannot become fact.

  18. It's happening (at least in some areas), but it's not caused by us and by pollution.  Pollution and the sun-blocking aerosols in it are known (according to REAL science) to cause the opposite affect.  Cooling!  It makes me angry that people like Al Gore and our corporate government tells us to limit ourselves while they get fat and profitable over this scheme and don't reduce their own so-called "carbon output" at all!

Xfuneral: Most people think I'm a "liberal" yet I agree with the asker (I used to blindly believe in AGW too)!

Bob: Those people saying that just proves that this is a lie supported and contrived by multinationals with alterior motives and who have no intention on reducing their own consumption.

  19. i haven't made up my mind, because whatever i decide is simply my own opinion.  I think it is much more useful to look at facts.  For now, I'm not too worried about global warming.  That may change in 5, 10, 20 years, but it may not.  I think we should all be concerned about it, but not overly obsessive.

  20. I'm with you.  I really truly honestly do not believe in global warming.  It's not because I'm too lazy to change my ways, it's because it's natural and the world is now in a cooling trend.
