  1. we must look at context.  in a large poor country it maybe inevitable but not for long.  as society progresses on the economic ladder it becomes personal choice to have as few or no kids.  

    but state imposed is not appropriate.  china is now reversing their one-child policy.  it was flexed for the rural areas and now for the urban areas too.  the fine for having a second child has reduced and no one cares abt it anymore.  

    anyway the world population is still growing and in wrong places - africa, lating america, asia where poverty is trapping these pple who dont know how to improve their lives.  govt and NGOs are still way behind to help these poor ones.

    parenthood must come with responsibility.

    in the bahai writings - it says that if a parent can afford to send one child to school - preference shld be given to the girl as she will in the next generation becomes the mother and the primary care giver.  so we can see that society is thinking of changes.
