  1. Overall genetic engineering has been very beneficial.  Some of the technologies in use now:

    1.  Crops that can grow in soil that is not tilled, reducing the amount of fuel required to work the land and reducing soil erosion.

    2.  Tomato plants that remove salt from soil, "cleaning" it sow that other crops can be grown.

    3.  Microbes that clean up oil spills.

    4.  Crops that resist insects, reducing the need for pesticides.

    5.  Fruits that contain vaccines.

    6.  Rice that contains vitamin A.

  2. Let me ask you this... the classic question with a question, I know...

What is the difference between genetic engineering and "selective breeding"?

Both are attempts to alter the outcome, correct, though obviously GE is much more... invasive? direct?

    Hmm...

Hey, what if through GE we could actually solve aging?  Cancer? A multitude of diseases? Hmmm...

Just some food for thought for your debate.

  3. Genetic Engineering is a reality now and will continue to expand in the coming decade.

Yes, it is an incredible science that one day will provide solutions to numerous man created issues...........food, pollution, medicine, space and in fact the potentials are limitless.

No. Under current regulations, there are far too many loopholes and methods to circumvent safe guards, intended to avoid experimentation that could well result in the next indestructible virus.

Rumors ( aren't they wonderfully fun to generate speculation )

have been around for about 3 years now, in  genetic geek circles, of a new Biological Mutation, for warfare. Totally "programmable" for any ethnicity, species or race. Details are boring, but the great "war industries" are forever on the march.

  4. if you mean like recreating dinosaurs i dont, theyd wipe out the human race, cause disease, and proabably evovle faster than us. if you mean like cloning a... goat, yeah, sure, why not? its not gonna hurt the enviroment

  5. it is where we came from

    genetic engineering by the Annunaki

it would be hypocritical to be against it

read Sitchins texts, these have been banned for a long time in many places ,and they are real translations of real ancient Sumerian hieroglyphics, from thousands of years before the bible ,

read the lost book of Enki it goes into great detail how homo sapian was genetically engineered.
