  1. 100 %.  It's not just in the wrestling business, it's in all forms of employment.  It's something I have to deal with everyday at my job.  Spoiled kids, who have had everything handed to them by Mommy and Daddy their whole lives, expecting that to continue in the real world.  On the whole, they are disrespectful, rude, and unwilling to pay any dues.  They expect to just walk in and take MY job.

Sting is dead-on.  The fans aren't helping any with their cries of "retire already!" to older wrestlers still able to perform at a high level.  Or whining about Triple H's "backstage power".  Triple H is a long-time employee of the WWE, he has made them a lot of money, and he has EARNED the right to have a say in the way the promotion is being run.  As do Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and Kane.  The Kennedys of the wrestling world need to understand that and respect the older wrestlers who have been in the company for a long time.

The young people complaining about that now, they will learn soon enough what it's like to be a long-time employee disrespected by some kid who thinks he's a "hot shot", and looks at you as being in his/her way.

By the way, Sting and I are about the same age.

  3. I didn't hear the speech, but he is right.  I t appears we are dealing with respect from an industry standpoint and from a fan base.

    From a fan base:

I watch TNA on occassion.  It is bogus (putting it nicely) with TNA and the chants of "retire already".  These stars have earned their right to be in the ring, and have worked hard to stay in shape so they can be.  Plus the veterans just make the matches more desirable to watch.  I know in the WWE nobody wanted Ric Flair to retire, and was still wrestling quite well for his age.

    From an industry standpoint:

In the old days, there was so much respect in the ring.  Wrestlers generally treated their opponents with respect because you were in fact putting your life in the other guy's hands.  And you really had to work your way up, especially when fighting the veterans of the business.  But you would earn their respect and their would be a mutual respect after.

Now say the WWE, they find a great talent (or maybe not in some cases) and rush them to the top of their group.  Where is the respect there, when it hasn't been earned?  They take their stardom for granted, and also this leads to the mentality of some young superstars where they don't care about the foundation of wrestling, the guys who busted their butts to even afford the opportunity for wrestlers today!

Then there are the wrestlers who use the industry to promote themselves without consideration for the business that gave them the opportunity; so they spend a year or two, then buck the system (a lot of divas do this along with some major stars like Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley who were promoted to the top and left the WWE).

    ---

Steve Borden(Sting) speaking some truth; i like it, even though it is for plot line probably, but i've seen some truth in storyline speeches.

Noted as of lately, the Chris Jericho/Shawn Michaels storyline.  Y2J has spoken so much truth about respect earned, superstardom, etc., mixed in with his "heel" opinions.  Even though Chris is right up there with Shawn in talent, and Chris has put work into the business(though not nearly as much as Shawn), HBK will always be a bigger fan favorite.

As they say, there's always a little bit of truth in pack of lies.
