Do you agree that movies in the 80s.....?

had more of a feel good factor than the movies of today.

I do for sure. I mean look at some of the great movies of that time:

Karate Kid

Back To The Future

Desperately Seeking Susan

Weird Science

The Breakfast Club

Total Recall

Ghostbusters

E.T.

These films had that "feel good" factor to them that movies today just don't seem to have. Films today are either super-violent and gory, rely WAY to much on CG effects, are c**p remakes or are just simply downers!

Do you agree....?

  1. back to the future <3!

  2. Totally.

  3. Agreed!

Movies now are so stupid and are basically all the same

I remeber when movies actually used to scare me...now nothing is suprising

Like Ferris Bullers Day Off.......nothing can beat that

    Or Top Gun

    Cant Buy Me Love

    Gremlins(lol)

    Children of the Corn-MALIKAI! lol

    Hairspray(remake sucked)

    Police Academy(HILARIOUS)

    Childs Play

A Christmas Story(never sticking my tounge out on a pole)

The 80's was better with everything!

That decade was original...this generation sucks

And every remake of 80's movies are HORRIBLE!

Nothing can ever beat the original

  4. I totally agree with you :) They had simple, uncomplicated storylines, the acting was good, the soundtrack was unforgettable and they left a lasting impression on those who watched them.

Movies these days are just not the same...I guess it's a reflection of the society we live in these days, which is so complex!

  5. i agree and also i think kids are way to sugar coated these days ...god forbid a person could die in a movie these days [they had guns and tried to kill kids in goonies ,chunk and the dead body cracked me up]

and people got over it ,no nightmares ,etc....new millenium has truly set kids back ages when it comes to viewing [hello ET bs recut with walkie talkies instead of guns ???seriously???]

  6. I think most 80's movies sucked. They were unrealistic, boring and poorly acted. With the exception of Total Recall and Ghostbusters none of the actors survived the decade. Arnold did because men will always go see crazy action movies, and Bill Murray is just one of the funniest people in the world.

These weren't even the best movies from the 80's, if I made and 80's list it would look more like this:

    Drugstore Cowboy

    Platoon

    Blade runner

    Stranger than Paradise

    Repo Man

    Terminators

    Evil Deads

I think what you are also forgetting is in the 80's not only were all about the John hughes flicks.  there was antoher juggernaut at the box office, the slasher films, yeah those were really "feel good" movies. People saw those more often then any of these movies. You also had Delta Force and Die Hard. Violence has always been around in film, since the beginning. Grotesque violence sells.

The 80's also created these CGI films, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Top Gun. These films created the idea of the Blockbuster, now everyone wants to make the next Titanic. The 80's are the reason film sucks now, and we're finally coming out of this terrible drought, but there are still these nostalgic coming of age stories that are coming out each year that are just so boring. And if your tired of CGI go watch Cofee and Cigarettes.
