Do you agree that the Footy Show needs to improve it's attitude towards women?

A letter has been written to C9, signed by a group of prominent AFL women, to have experts from the Anti-Discrimination Commission to help cast & crew members of the Fotty Show to improve their attitude towards women.

It's all about Sam doing a stunt with a manequin dressed up as The Age's chief football writer Caroline Wilson.

Jeez, some women can be a pain in the butt. When are they going to get it into their noggins that this is a man's sport & they should stop trying to run things their way. If they don't like it they should stick to watching cooking shows & televised womens lawn bowls!

  1. ok ... I also asked a question re sam newman ...

and it may shock a few people to see me write that I didn't disagree with everything I heard the jerk say......

I have always said that If we women want equal rights then we get ALL the equality .. the GOOD and THE BAD...  We can't say we want to be the equal of males and then get all pi$$ed off because a man didn't offer us his seat or didn't open the door for us.....

    HOWEVER

My problem with Sam is that he is an arrogant borish s****. jerk...  he who last night stated that he doesn't care what people think about him .. YET has undergone cosmetic surgery ...he makes fun of those who have not been as fortunate as himself by recieving a decent education and being the son of proffessional people that could provide him with a higher standard of living than many of the people he interviews and makes fun of during STREET TALK....

YES for a while I laughed along with SAM, years ago .. but how often can you hear the same tune being played .. over and over and over and over .. forget the way he treats women .. How about the way he treats people in general...??

    the guy's a BORING prat....

  2. I have no problem with the Footy Show & it's attitude towards women.

They treat everyone just about the same.

I do note that one of the females that responded in here has abviously got a big chip on the shoulder by her response to the author of this question.

They are the types of females who gives others a bad name. But I have noticed that this poster has an attitude about a number of issues.

  3. No. Garry Lyon and JB don't have an attitude problem and yea Sam should have a little restraint sometimes... but none of this seminar stuff they were talking about.

The women making a fuss over what was mentioned on tonight's (1/5/08) footy show were not involved in any way to the actual incident that began this issue in the first place!

  4. No,it's not The Footy Show,it is Sam"sleezbag' Newman who needs to improve his attitude towards women..

I dont care if he can get it up or not,he is and always has been a womanising wanker....

Bring back Billy Brownless,he did a much better job when he stood in for Sam...

And i dont blame Caroline wilson for gettin upset neither, you would if some dirty old prick was rubbing his 'p****r' up against your face in a picture....

Get rid of Newman and the show would be just fine...

  5. no

the goat should have more rights than the woman

footy is  mans game woman at home cooking for me

my wifes are almost as beautiful as your horse

i want to buy your horse

  6. Nah .... They don't need to improve the shows attitude.

I like it when Sam pulls those know-all sheilas back into gear. They're trying to take over everything these days. Look at some of them that post in here, they haven't a clue about the game but get nasty if anyone disagrees with them.

    Play it again, Sam!

  7. oh and being a sexist is so herotic....congrats to you for still living in the 50's...

I actually think that the women of AFL are blowing things out of proportion and Sam's stunt is just a silly prank.  I couldnt care less what they do on the footy show, coz i know its done is fun and not intended to offend.

Its comments like yours that get women angry not Sam Newman....grow up.

  8. It's interesting isn't it?

This is what same was saying last night on the show - the ugly side of equality.

They want equality on the "good" stuff but cries when they get equality on the "bad" stuff.

How many out there have heard women who wants to be treated like a lady on occasions when they are not pampered to or handled with velvet gloves? But then in the same breath wants equality.

What they are saying is we should have 2 rules for women when it suits them.

Is it Discrimination if they take the p**s out of Caroline to the same extent as they take the p**s out of everyone else?

    .

  9. No, because the footy show isn't for women.  And not for men either.  It's for meatheads who think football is news, not a sport.

  10. As long as women improve their attitude towards men to the same extent,  not a problem.

  11. Oh my god no!

    Like Sam said, LIGHTEN UP!

  12. If women had a say on the footy show then THE BOYS would not feel that they have to play the goat!

The AFL Footy show needs Eddie back to control the BOYS.

The odd thing is that THE BOYS are four guys with an average age of something like 53. An average number of relationships would be 3 or 4.As Pete Seeger said, when will they ever learn?

We don't have to do anything about them because they have made such tools of themselves that they need no help.

  13. No. I don't agree.

I'm no fan of the Footy Show - there's hardly an ounce of brains between the lot of the panel. But you have to admit it - Sam does it knowing he will get a reaction similar to many answers to this question.

I don't always watch it because I can't watch a show that has Trevor Marmalade as a participant! Jeez, he's a dropkick - slightly worse than Billy Brownless.

I get more fun from listening to aggrieved viewers, over Sam's antics, than I do watching the show.

  14. Another of Sam's jokes that got blown out of proportion, is it because Carolyn(who i quite like) is well known, SAM does that sort of related stuff on street talk every week, girls do and say sexual innuendo related things to him as well.

I think he went a bit too far but would it be looked at differently if it was a bloke they were doing it to, and I'll tell you now, Sam would do the same stuff to a bloke.

All a storm in a tea cup, as Carolyn said she is not offended by it, so who is, it's like porno movies and books, they say they degrade women, crikey, woman are degrading themselves, stop making the movies or getting pictures taken, Prostitutes take advantage of weak men too, all very deep for our footy section, just let it die a quick death.

  15. I tend to agree with some of Beechys answers. I think that most Australians as a whole need to improve their attitude to a lot of things.

The biggest problem with Australia today is that parents are not teaching children any form of respect, some don;t know how to and others are too busy working two jobs so that they can have many material things.

A lot of Aussies have lost touch with what really matters in life. And when it comes down to it, when you go you can't take all this material stuff with you, but you can have left an impression on the world.

I would hope that I leave an impression that doesn't stink of ignorance and prejudice like what I can see in some of the answers here.

Those who rubbish women need to realise that it was a woman who gave birth to them and most likely who raised them. The "women" who are getting the ribbing on tv are no doubt someones mother, daughter, wife, sister.. the list goes on. They are the ones who supported out footballers in their careers, they are the mothers who took their sons to junior games and paid the fees!

Those who have given ignorant answers; Grow up and learn to treat people the way you wish to be treated yourselves!

  16. I like it when someone has the guts to speak the truth.

  17. its called having a laugh

    try and smile once

    it feels real nice

  18. Don't Australians in the main need to improve their attitude to:

    Women

    Indigenous Peoples

    Homosexuals

People without white skin (who don't represent the country at sport)

    Music that isn't rock

    or is that just Queenslanders?

  19. the woman in question only has herself to blame, she should know not to look at the telly when she is serving the beer on her way back to the kitchen

  20. No. I don't agree.

We've got have someone with the goolies to stand up to these feminists who are trying to take over our blokes sport.

I hope Sam keeps it up - & I'm sure he will. He's not the type to be pushed around by these know-all nasties.

  21. yes

  22. i actually dont have a problem with the footy show's attitude towards woman.

  23. Mmm.. Jeez some men can be a pain in the butt!

Again the generalisation of women has been soiled from a handful of offended whinges..

So they were offended.. The Footy Show apologised..

    Caro accepted... All done with!!?

It was a joke, Sammy is well known for his chauvinistic outbursts, and if viewers are offended by this they have the same opportunity as every s*x or race, to turn it off!!

I would just like to remind some of the male population that each player has a mother and I'll bet, just as I do, she cooks, cleans AND takes him to Footy practise, watches/cheers at his games And pays for his fees, game entry, not to mention patches him up and sees him back to health for the next weekend!!

(oh and buy and cut up the oranges at half time)

Whether we like it or not women do have an integral part in the footy community..

  24. I just think the footy show is so boring and inane anyway.  It has not changed its format now for the last decade.  Nothing is new.  Street talk, almost footy legends, structure, jokes all the same stuff.

Sam Newman????  If people enjoy a guy that finds humour continually at others peoples expense then they are easily pleased.

Watch the NRL show and you will be will entertained.  What was originally a copycat is now entertaining, informative and innovative.

  25. no, people have got to get a sense of humour.  this country has gone downhill in that aspect, i feel sorry for the rest of the women out there who find things funny and aren't phased by it, and a few bad apples have to spoil things for them.

  26. The footy show is fine. They don't offend me. They make me laugh.

And who said AFL is only for men, if thats what you think then you are a horse's p***s.

Maybe you should get some 21st century ideals and stop being a sexist *******
