"It's gonna happen. All the people who change the world die in violence" 2Pac. When I heard this, I immediately thought of MLK, JFK, Gandhi, John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, Princess Diana, or even Selena...I'm not saying they have to be famous, it's probably just coincidence but what do you think?

  1. Good people don't kill bad people who do bad things.  Bad people kill good people who do good things.

  2. Man! Michael Phelps is going to get shot now. I guess none of us should even bother trying to change the world because we'll get shot.

  3. Not all Robin Hood died in bed from old age.

  4. we all change the world in small ways everyday. you don't see people shooting "save the rainforest" advocates...

  5. No I don't.  Another generalisation.

  6. No. I don't. It's just coincidence.

  7. To a certain degree I agree with this statement. However, alot of people die in violence, not just those who changed the world

  8. What about Jesus?!?!

Edit - I think Shakespeare made an impact on the world... I wouldn't put him up there with Jesus at all but if you're having Lennon and Marvin Gaye...

  9. My first thought was Mother Theresa. For as many as you can name who died in violence there are a equal number or more who didn't. Interesting question though.

  10. Ironically, there is some truth to the statement.

  11. Another line that showed what an idiot 2pac was...

  12. freaky?

  13. Oh No you didnt put Gandhi in the same category as 2Pac...Please say you didnt?

  14. I disagree.  Albert Einstein, Franklin D Roosevelt,  Winston Churchill, Mother Theresa, etc etc.

  15. You left 2Pac out of your list D8

Cool quote, though I'm not sure what it has to do with Religion or Spirituality :P

  16. No, I think that people that change the world don't have to die in violence.  However, I do think that those people die sooner.

  17. Not all people die of violence that change the world.  Mother Teressa, Billy Graham(not dead yet), Dr. Dobson(NDY).  Those are just off the top of my head.  I know many have died as you say and better than the ones you listed.  Jesus all the disciples save John and many more.

But, I would say take Princess Diana out as she died of stupidity not violence.  It was an accident that happens any time you mix drugs or alcohol with driving.  I would also say she did not exactly change the world.  I cannot speak about Marvin Gaye or Selena as I know little about them.

  18. Those who change the world most likely become famous and they also create controversy among the crowds. Some are open minded and choose to follow and the narrow minded and among those stuck up is always one who is ready to kill for his cause. Unfortunately for them, by killing the person in question they don't destroy what they have stood for. On the contrary being dead, they become a symbol for what they have built. But anyways, by sharing your view with the world means taking the risk of confronting those stuck up so what 2Pac said is mostly true. Yet you could be lucky enough not to meet too much adversity and you might have the chance not to get killed by human hand.

  19. Did Marvin Gaye change the world?  Don't think so.  Listen, try not to get too much life advice from a dead gangster.  There are plenty of people who have lived natural lives and died natural deaths and impact the world significantly.  Think about it:  Washington, Jefferson, both Roosevelts, Reagan, Churchill, Debake, Salk, Gorbachev, lots more.

  20. Princess Diana died in a car accident, it was a horrible death but not caused by violence.  Mother Teresa changed the world as much as John Lennon, violence didn't end her life, natural causes did.  Explore more people, there's many great people out there who have changed the world without dying by violence.

  21. To change the world, and expose it as the filth it truly is, will have a reaction that will include some painful situations or even death. To expose the world to truth from its life style of lies will also do the same thing. look what they did to Jesus for telling the Gospel.

  22. Those who changed the world ???? Not J.F.K.,Selena,2Pac,Princess Di,and of all Not John Lennon.I always enjoyed a little soul music,Marvin Gaye was nice to listen to but He hardly changed the world.Gandhi,Mother Theresa, and a few others made a difference, but only Jesus changed the world. We all die.

  23. This is an interesting theory this statement is likely to happen or should i say more likely to happen if you cause controversy. Recently there were men arrested for attempting to associate Barack Obama! however no i do not agree because if this were true in all cases then rosa parks, ronald reagan,Oprah,Maya Angelou, and lots more!

  24. Everyone "changes the world" by being a part of it...though I'm not sure I'm ready to put J. Lennon, Marvin Gaye and Selena in the same category as MLK or Gandhi...or Jesus.

There are plenty of people who have had positive impacts on the world who do not die violently..among them Mother Teresa and Pope JP2...so the quote is really nothing more than hyperbole.

  25. They died violent deaths because of the evil in mens' minds.

You were right to leave Jesus off the list as He is not dead.

  26. In my own personal opinion, I think you're asking this question in the wrong category.  (By the way, Princess Diana and Selena and Marvin Gaye and John Lennon never changed the world like MLK, JFK or Gandhi did.  But since this IS the "Religion and Spirituality" section, I'm surprised you didn't mention Jesus Christ!  HIS death, and subsequent resurrection has changed literally MILLIONS of lives.  In fact, every human who has EVER heard of Jesus, either accepted His claim to be God come in the flesh, and was changed for the better, or rejected His claim, and was changed for the worse, rejecting Truth, moving into the darkness, away from God and goodness, towards the darkness, depending on the depth of their rejection.)

  27. Yes, a lot of people who try to change the world die violently. So do a lot of people who think the world should be as it is.

    Violence is the problem.

  28. I think that what we forget is that evil people dont care about using violence or any means at all to hurt other to get what they want. Many people who try to change the world die violently. What we need to remeber is that good people need to use violence to keep the evil ones in check. If it was possible to resolve things peacfully that would be great but it usually isnt. Those who are not peaceful are not going to reason with those who are in a peaceable way, those who would like peace need to use force with evil people even though its probably not what we would like to do.

  29. How   would  your   statement  be  agreable when  it  is  very  impossible?  No   mankind  could  ever  change  the  world.   Even  the  persons  whom  you  mentioned.  They  are  also   humans that  they  could  not  change  the  world  while   it  is  maybe  true  tht  they  are  famous  in  their  country.

Only God   could   change  the  world,  if  he  like  because   God   has  the  power  to  do  so.

  30. Well.

    Yes and no.

I think if someone is publicly and vehemently vocal about something.

whether it be good or bad..

Someone will always disagree with you, and the more people you reach, the more likely that one nut job will disagree with you that will also have the capabilities of killing you.
