  1. no- maybe we should slow down bill clinton

  2. No. That is EXACTLY why so many people are so violently hostile to all global warming talk. Because slowing the economy means making everyone poorer.

  3. How the h**l did this guy ever get elected President?

  4. His comment was in regards to the short-term.

"He went on to say that his the U.S. -- and those countries that have committed to reducing greenhouse gases -- could ultimately increase jobs and raise wages with a good energy plan."

I think he's probably right, that in the short-term cutting back greenhouse gases would slow the economy down, and in the long-term it would benefit the economy.

  5. Even if it does slow down, it still wouldn't be enough.  Believers won't be happy till we're back living in caves.

  6. no because you can help global warming with out killing the economy (like making nuclear power plants)

  7. I'd rather be dirt poor and living in a gutter than to have the temperature increase another 0.6 degrees in 100 years.

    sarcasm

  8. Is our economy really doing so well? Our government could stimulate employment easily without slowing the economy. First, they could provide the same subsidies to solar, wind, conservation, plug-in hybrid cars and alternative fuels that have been provided to current systems for centuries. They could then provide incentives to encourage businesses and home owners to do energy conservation efforts and install solar electric panels on their homes and have them wired directly to the electric grid. That would reduce the overall need for immediate construction of power plants. They could encourage our auto makers to build quality plug-in hybrid vehicles in America, hiring Americans to build the infrastructure to make electric vehicles more useable. With a plug-in electric vehicle, I could drive to and from work 30 miles each day without ever using a dime of gas. The suggestions could go on and on. We are at a time when unimaginative concepts will only drag us down. The lack of imagination could slow the economy. It is very hard to change the selfish mindset of folks who have special incentives to maintain the old ways ... usually it has something to do with money. As we have seen with stocks and real estate, nothing goes up forever. If we do not face our problems, the rest of the world will manage them for us. Has exporting our jobs to China or India helped our economy? Has buying products from every other country but ours helped the economy? Whether you believe global warming is caused by us or by nature, getting our citizens excited about helping and putting them to work cleaning up can do absolutely no harm and may help solve some of the global warming.

  9. It wouldn't help much, China already produces more coal smoke than the USA and is building more than one new coal burning facility per week.

  10. Duct tape his mouth forever, that will stop global warming.
