Is it OK with you that Corporations decide how they dispose of chemicals in your neighborhood? If we save money is it OK with you if coal plants ruin the air quality as long as it goes "somewhere else"? Big business will do the right thing - right?

  1. I think the last few years has more than proven that corporations need to be kept in check, for environmental reasons as well as for reasons of greed/fraud (Worldcom, Enron, Adelphia...and so on).

  2. Yes, and I'll tell you why. In  my state, Missouri, we had this demonrat

    governor, Melvin Carnahan.

When faced with a looming EPA deadline for the metropolitan areas

to comply with  ground-level ozone levels caused by automobile

exhaust reacting with ultraviolet light from the sun, he stalled and

didn't do anything until the very last minute.  Then he caved into

the oil-companies (and you thought  that was a specialty of the

repugnicans, didn't you? Well it's not) and decided to solve the

problem by allowing the refineries to increase  a highly toxic water-

soluble refinery byproduct supposed to be able to remedy this

problem in  the blends intended for  sales in the metro areas, along

with a highly corrupt inspection program which had already been

kicked out of several other states.   The problem might also have

been solved by increasing the percentage of ethyl alcohol in the

    blends for  the metro areas.

That's water-soluble and toxic too, but as any drunk would know,

you can actually get away with drinking that stuff.

So Carnage-hand decided to expose us all  to a petrochemical

toxin instead of a product  of corn farmers (methyltertiarybutylether)

and  guess what?  The levels are still not in compliance yet.

So these things actually don't work anyway.  Get rid of them.

They used to send everyone with "consumption" (tuberculosis)

to asylums  out in the country to get fresh clean air.  Send all the weak

sisters with asthma  to concentration camps  out in the country then.

That would be better than poisoning everyone with a toxin whose

level apparently is not of concern to the wonderful whacky EPA

to make the air safe  for some of us who probably have more of a problem

with needing their home thoroughly cleaned anyway.  If someone  with

asthma came in my house they'd probably curl up and die on the spot.

    Fine--let  'em stay out.

  3. I don't agree, and I believe you're either lying or just repeating something you heard from someone else who's lying.  Don't believe everything you hear.

  4. What's the source of your assertion that Bush and the GOP wish to do away with the EPA?

  5. Bush and company would just love that. Just look at what deregulation has done to Wall St. and therefore main street. The only thing the Bush admin hasn't ruined yet is the environment. Guess he's looking for a perfect score.

  6. Without a link, your claim will be treated as propaganda...

No one here has seen or heard ANYTHING about what you are claiming (me included).

  7. yes, the environmentalists are crippling our economy.  we need to drill everywhere we can for new oil and let businesses do what they do best and keep government out of it.  we are much more careful than we used to be about how we conduct our business (a lot more than other countries would be).  global warming and all this garbage about carbon footprints is just a hoax to raise our taxes.  there is no scientific proof of man made global warming or that we are destroying the planet.  we need to preserve capitalism and do everything we can to keep government out of our way.  every time they step in, things just get worse.
