I will probably have this thread removed but I personally feel somewhat insulted in respect to the comparison.

I suppose it's not politically correct to say such things nowadays but Anzac Day is Australia's main day - remembering our many thousands of casualties of WW1.

Good luck to the indiginous players & by all means have these games but to compare it with Anzac Day is going over the top.

  1. Well to him The Dreamtime match is proberly the same..

But there are 2 completly different things to most of us...

As you said the Anzac Day match is to pay our respect to the diggers who lost their lives fighting to save Australia

               And

The Dreamtime match is for Koorie's to pay their respect to the Koorie Dreamtime and their life...

Yes as a white Australian i feel it is a bit far fetched to say it is the same as the Anzac Day match.

But as i say i am white,if i was a Koorie it might have the same effect but i am not so i can't say...

Edit..And i mean no disrespect to the Koorie culture with my words too....

  2. well said "IN THE DARK" I couldnt have put it any better

  3. yeah i'd have to agree with you. and some people then compare anzac day to the grandfinal. i mean, lets be honest, the only important match of the year, is the very last one. the rest of the matches are just worth 4 points.

  4. i agree with you mate, its hardly in the same league as ANZAC day games, and i find it strange why we need to celebrate what the Aborigines have brought to the game of footy- why don't we do the same for the Italians,Greeks,Irish,Anglo Saxon Aussies etc etc, nothing against the Aborigine blokes, they are great for the game but they are no different to anybody else.

Its just politically correct to do so.

  5. I see your point here but i am one person who loves footy that thinks the Anzac day match is just another game, i am as patriotic as any Aussie, but all this bizzo about them playing for the fella's that fought for us, don't wash with me, there is no way you can compare a football game with going to war and watching your mate get his head blown off, 6 of my uncles fought the j**s in new guinea in ww2, all brothers, all came home alive.

It makes me sick the way they equate the two, it's a great day for the AFL to cash in on.  i pay my respects on Anzac day in my own way and not just on Anzac Day either, i respect our returned soldiers and help out in any way i can, whether it be just having a quite beer with one at the club or something else, every day should be Anzac Day for those blokes.

The dream-time game is just another money spinner too.
