Some users ask me I have some envy against indian cricketers.The opinion I said in question is main reason.I believe cricket has killed all sports in India.If you check revenue of sports,Cricketers take more than 2/3rd of it and remaining pieces is thrown away to other sports.if you check their lifestyle,all cricketers who have played international cricket live in posh bungalows,have super cars or bikes,whereas rest of other players leave alone bungalows or vehicles,They struggle to get basic necessities.I have seen many international Indian footballers and hockey players in crowded trains or buses.If you check families in India,If a child say that I will be cricketer parents send them to best coaches.if a child says that i want to become footballer or hockey player or any other sportsperson,Parents say you are mad, See for yourself their status.if you go in these sports your future will be doomed.This happened to my brother who played soccer for his school in inter-state tournaments.Due to my parents pressure,he had to give up dream of playing football.Just they won over-hyped 1983 World Cup,All cricketers start behaving like stars and rare medallists who have won us medals died in isolation and obscurity.A wrestler named Jadhav who won India bronze medal in 1952 died in poverty and nobody even know it.Cricket has killed our sports and I will never forgive Indian cricketers for this.Even India plays cricket they are not champions in it.I feel ashamed when countries like Ethiopia,Zimbabwe,Kenya and North Korea win more medals than India.I feel helpless when other country users says 1.1 billion people and 1 gold medal.it is like they are spitting in my face and I cannot rub it because they are saying true.I have read chinese newspapers and headlines reading 'A bad sporting country with huge population wins a gold medal'.All headlines were not praising that 1 gold medal.They were taunting us that you took more than century to win 1st individual gold medal.

  1. Don't be so ashamed!

    We're just better!

  2. i somewhat agree

  3. Please, put this in the Olympics section or something. Cricket is awesome... way better than football, tennis, hockey, wrestling, shooting, etc. Thankfully all of India recognizes that.

  4. Australia so far has 29 medals from Beijing with a population of just over 21 million people.

    I read on a football website how the National football team for India is struggling to get crowds even though there is over 1 billion Indians living in India. I think this is a result of Cricket, but you cant really blame cricket itself. You should blame your own people for following the sport because now cricket has monopolized India. How many Indians on this forum know anything about one of their best footballers Baichung Bhutia? Probably none..which is sad.

  5. OZ is right, it's the rule of supply & demand. If the fans didn't attend there would be a big downswing in popularity for cricket. You can't brainwash people into following what they don't like. But I guess it would be good if the country spent more on other sports to encourage greater participation.Don't blame cricket.

  6. oh Shailesh, may be now i understand the reason of your disliking of Indian cricket !

    Its not the cricket, its citizens of india who are killing other sports, what is the reason of these cricketers and BCCI being so rich, i will tell you the loop !

    your pocket---> commodity---->product company

    ---->commercials+sponsors----->BCCI + cricketers

    Now you tell me , what is the fault of cricket in this, you and your country people like it, isn't it , if they start liking hockey or soccer, the cricketers will start commuting by public buses and trams instead of them !

    simple rule is DEMAND & SUPPLY !

    so your concept is totally NULL and VOID !

    the chapter is closed for me!

    cricket rulz bcos you make it rule!

    Now coming to your point of gold medals, the physique of individuals, social set up, infrastructure of sports etc play an important role in the sports, when people have to struggle for existence and parents have been conventionally pushing their children into vocations instead of sports, you can't change it overnight , the things will improve slowly, did your parents encourage you to join sports?

    no magic stick will work, may be this is the start, you can find gradual improvements !

    I know Bhaichung Bhutia, as well as Mohan Bagan and East Bengal soccer teams!
