Any small business man know that the price of fuel is high today not because there is lack of supply but rather the oil company making huge profits at the expanse of the people generally..that is why Obama wants to tax the oil company and use that money to help the people..obama is no economist but he have lotd of commonsense..

what the h**l does he mean by inflating your tires? if you over inflate them they wear out in the middle, anyone who has driven an auto for any length of time can tell you that. and it's only common sence to get tune ups when they're needed. so, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

To be precise, Obama is talking about swapping the light sweet crude in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for lower-grade oil that is not as expensive, but entirely capable of being refined.

Drilling for oil may increase the supply, but it won't reduce the price significantly. Drilling off the coasts or in ANWR woin't yield any results for seven to ten years, and oil pumped from those wells won't be for the exclusive use of U.S. residents. It will be sold on the world market, where its prescence might result in a 5-cent price decrease.

Obama's plan involves a windfall profits tax on the oil companies, the proceeds from which would go toward $1,000 checks to offset the expensive energy costs. Then there is alternative energy sources , money to refit auto factories for electric, hybrid and diesel vehicle production.

By the way: Bush's NHTSA came up with the info on how much oil properly inflated tires and regular tune-ups can save. McCain belatedly said he agrees, although he still wants to give Big Oil a license to drill. -- even though companies already hold leases they aren't using

hes crazy our reserve is just that for emergencies and what would happen if we used it all up and we had another katrina it would be a nightmare . as far as tires go if properly inflated you might get a few more mile but it doesn't matter when there is oil here and we can be some what independent from foreign oil. and no hes not worst but a close 3 maybe.

Simple science shows that he is right about inflating Tire's so that the car has less rolling road resistance!  Also less braking ability though.

Drilling for more oil might help in the very long term but not in the short term.

The real problem is that under Bush a number of oil refineries were closed but no new ones built so that a major part of the problem today is actual the lack of refining facilities!

Bush used a large part of the reserves for political reasons a few years ago when it was not really necessary and thus they have not been replenished to much yet.  Using the oil now would mean having to replenish at high prices again just as Bush has found!!
