Well,Ponting is right that he is great cricketer but why he is comparing with Phelps and Bolt since both play different sports.

  1. It is simply unfair and unrealistic to compare sportsmen from different sports and especially so when they come from widely different eras.  Bradman was a great cricketer but I wouldn't say it is possible to even compare him with modern cricketers as the game and training regime is so different.  To compare him with Bolt or Phelps is impossible and just shows Pontings one eyed focus on his own sport.  I would say that even within a sport it is only appropriate to compare athletes when they come from the same era.

  2. i m agree with ponting.

  3. each and everybody can play any game or sport but only experience will win them in respectively

  4. I have to agree with Punter.

Phelps had someone's (Mark Spitz) record to break. And Ian Thorpe was almost there. So Phelps achievement is not rare. And someone in future can do it. It is not impossible.

Usain Bolt, did good work, breaking world records in 100m, 200m & 4x100m relay. But there were similar feats before in Olympics. (Think of Michael Johnson, Carl Lewis, Jesse Owens etc).

Think of Sergey Bubka who broke his own pole vault World Record 35 times, and Yelena Isinbayeva, who has already broken her own record 24 times.

So records are to be broken. Tell me who will break Don's record?

Sir Don has set the benchmark in batting, no one else has come even closer, let alone reset it. I can assure you it is going to stay so, for a long long time, if not forever.

  5. In comparing them to Phelps & Bolt, he is not taking their respective sports into consideration, just their ability to perform. If Bradman had the benifits that today's pampered sportsmen enjoy, who knows how much greater he could have been?

  6. yea why not........................................
