I was watching the Liverpool vs Villa game, and at half time, and full-time I listened to his comments and I agree with everything he said. As I remember, he was frustrated, and angry , straight away said they're not winning the title. What he said(not the exact quote) :

"Liverpool have a decent chance of winning the title this season, but with negative football like this, Keane playing on the left, Liverpool payed £20m for him, a striker, not a winger, no balance in the team, no way. Thats not something you will see from Champions, Man Utd "

He kept on going like playing Babel or Benayoun on the left I couldn't care about this a lot tbh, just asking for opinions from the Liverpool fans with Torres and Gerrard injured and Man Utd coming to Anfield in 2 weeks time, with negative football like that yesterday and the way you played from the start of the season, do you think you can beat them ? I hope you do

  1. Sadly I have to agree.  We have great players in the team - no doubt about that but the keyword for me is "balance".  We don't have that because of the way players are played out of position.

I personally believe in putting players in positions they are actually great in.

    McMahon is a legend.

  2. Steve McMahon has no credibility to say anything after showing how good a manager he was at Perth Glory*.

    *Rubbish.

  3. I like rafa

but he is messing us up

you bought keane for a striker PLAY HIM as a supporting striker JUST behind torres then you will see results.

today when torres got injured it would have been perfect to put keane up top and let him show off his striker skills.

with torres injured they should have brought on BABEL to play ont he left and give them that BURST of speed that they oh so desperately needed.

we have the palyers rafa is just not making the cruscial tactical changes.

keane created every single chacne and he is brouight off for BENAYOUN out of all players! and babel is left ont he bench.

i honestly belive we have the talent. we jsut need to go out and buy one mroe midfielder (no not riera) someone like maxi rodriguez to play the wing then we will be absolutely perfectly balanced imageine this

    ST - Torres

    Supporting ST/ CAM - Keane

    CM/CAM - Gerrard

    Left wing - Babel/Alonso/Rodriguez

    Right wing - Babel/Alonso/Rodriguez

    Defensive Mid - Mascherano

Defensive line : Dossena Carragher Agger Arbeloa

    Subs

Kuyt - use him as first off the bench

    Ngog

    Hyppia

    Dosenna

    Cavalieri

    EL Zhar

    Lucas

    Babel/Xabi/Maxi

    etc...

Sell Finnan Voronin Babel Pennant, then you can go buy rodriguez and maybe one more quality player i.e Downing.

Barry would have been an amazing fit to our team. but iwth him out we need some one like maxi NOT Riera

we can styll win this! YNWA

  4. yeah, also wonder why Kuyt is playing right wing too for the last few matches, they are too defensive and not playing attacking football, not much creativity in midfield, that's why they can't win the league

  5. All I know is they are overrated and mostly play c**p boring football

  6. yaa.I Agree With Him.Even Though Keane Can Play On Left Side But They Bought him As a Striker .and Such type of football can only destroy their little chance of any major success in any cup.MANU4LIFE

  7. man u  guys had a great start to the season but i was wqatching the villa game yoday and i could see you guys weren't gonna score not because the quality wasn't present but because the quality wasn't being used sufficiently rafa cannot just rely on torres and gerrrard i mean look at guys like pennant where was he today, another thing is rafa has to start taking the epl a little more seriously in the champions league liverpool look like a different teAM(last season). to beat man u in two weaks liverpool shas to uuse its firepower with possible using three upfront and yes put keeane on the left but not as a wing but more of a left striker and kuyt right striker then torresw the centre forward

  8. personally i felt Steve McMahon's comments were harsh yet true.

when i saw the team-sheet yesterday i knew everything was wrong.

Lucas, a central midfielder, playing left wing and Kuyt, a forward, playing yet again as a right winger just doesn't scare opponents, and hardly inspiring.

and i wonder what Benitez was thinking when he had Pennant, Benayoun, El Zhar and Aurelio in his squad, all of whom, though not world class, should provide more width than Kuyt and Lucas.

even a side like villa had with genuine wingers like Ashley Young and James Milner..etc!

when torres got injured, even though benitez replaced him man-for-man with another striker Ngog, i was disgusted that he ordered Keane to drop back to left wing as we changed to 4-5-1, with 10 men in our own half!

wait a minute, is THIS liverpool or wigan? are we playing against barcelona or aston villa? are we defending a precious lead with minutes to go, or are we closing up shop against aston villa with the game goal-less and in the FIRST HALF???

this liverpool side just doesn't look like title contenders. they lack wingers and more importanly, they lack creativity.

with gerrard injured, i expected alonso to step into the playmaker role, but he was outplayed by a certain gareth barry. besides gerrard and alonso, the only other player with some flair would probably be benayoun yet he is not consistent enough. so unless we can get in a few genuine wingers and a creative playmaker, i don't think we really stand much chance against United, nor the title assault.

and, as a liverpool fan, i have to admit this will not be our season, yet again. and i feel so hurt and disappointed to see mr. benitez still clueless about the premier league despite this being his 5th [is it?] season in charge now. since our champions league triumph and fa cup glory in his first two years, we've gone backwards, almost similar to houllier's post cup treble season downfall isn't it?

a good run in the champions league, winning the FA Cup and League Cup are perhaps within reach, but the league title, no way, not yet.
