Do you agree with me about online poker?

I have played at poker stars for a couple of years now, I do win occasionally. have placed in at least 7 in the last week. placed first in a 180 player $2.20 pay in that paid $108.00. trust me I am still not the winner. one thing i have learned at this site is to learn how to throw away good cards. I believe they have a coutroflow system that keeps tourneys moving right along. it is so funny how many times that everyone folds from crappy cards, only to see the next hand shw players with AK,QQ,JJ,77 ETC. THIS IS THE TIME TO BEWARE. this is what causes so many to bid high and go all in. this is what knocks so many out. the more tourneys they have the more they make. trust me random dealing does not produce 14 face cards out of 18 on the deal. when your actions are not what p.s. would expect they are more confused than you. patience has proven to work for me. BEWARE of the hands that p.s. has decided to eliminate players. it kinda worrys me to write this, thinking I may never win again, but they have got to know how obviouse there system looks to the few good players actually contributing to this site. if you are going to play there dont worry about beating other players, learn how to beat the programmers. if you can make it to the final table, dealing slowly will start to become more legit. thank you. G.P.

  1. I absolutely agree that most online sites DO NOT deal truly random cards.  Ever notice how, when you join a new site, you start winning right away?  You get dealt quads and straight flushes and full houses like crazy.  You account skyrockets right away.  Funny how that works huh?  It's like they're trying to get new people hooked on their site.  Also, whenever there's a new software update to install, the cards start coming out funny with a TON of bad beats.  Runner runner miracle cards.  It feels like the site is trying to even things out and help the horrible fish that don't know how to play and take it from those of us that get our chips in with and 80% mathematical edge.  My pocket Kings can NEVER beat pocket 6's until the fish get fed and there's another update and we can start playing real poker again.  Just my thoughts and I've been playing several sites for years now and have seen thousands and thousands of hands.  Thanks for sharing.

  2. You must have had a lot of bad beats to start believing something so crazy. For that I understand where you're coming from, but I have to disagree with you. Online poker isn't rigged. Bad beats do happen, and seemingly impossible situations do occur.

If that doesn't appeal to you, you should take up a different hobby.

  3. After I read the first few sentences, I thought "oh, what a relief! Not another 'poker is rigged' questions."

You got the first part right.  You have to know when to fold good cards.  That is one of the characteristics of a good poker player, live or online.  You've got to understand that betting with a high pair on each street isn't a good play.  Or trying to trap a few opponents with a high pair as a possible straight or flush is developing isn't either.

The anonymity of the Internet also makes it easier for bad players to play worse.  This will ultimately lead to more bad beats with the given high rate of hands per hour.  Big pairs aren't always going to win, and on the other hand second or third pairs often win.

Poker is a game of instinct, awareness, math, and a little bit of luck.  The more you can understand this, the better you'll become.  However, believing that poker sites try to move you along to free up a table is holding you back if you are stuck in that mindset.
