Pastors such as John Hagee and Rod Parsley seem to be running for office at times.

  1. I've never even heard of the two people you mentioned.

But I have heard of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and I don't think that there was anything at all wrong with him preaching about politics.

  2. Yes---because of the 1st amendment---freedom of religion---not freedom from religion..

The religious community should be free to take part in the election and support for people to run their govenment the same as any other citizen, without questioning their motives or beliefs. Our nation was founded on the belief in a Devine Being---anything less than the above is contradictory to the principles of our constitution and bill of rights.

  3. i agree with lynn 100%

  4. Religious leaders should be spreading the word of God, not trying to get someone elected to political office!  I wouldn't attend a church that tried to influence my vote!

  5. The so-called separation of state you speak of was created by a very liberal Supreme Court in 1947 or '48. You will not find it in the Constitution anywhere. That being said, the 1st Amendment guarentees (only) that the Government cannot establish a state religion. It in no way inhibits a person who practices religion from participating in the electoral process. At least not yet it doesn't and, as long as I can still pull my trigger, it never will.

  6. I believe in complete separation of church and state.  It is too much like a government within a government.

If religious organizations are lobbying they need to have their tax-exempt status revoked.  They are then a for-profit business.

  7. Nope, we need to separate the State from religion. How else are we going to keep Muslim fanatics out of office?

  8. No, I don't think they should.  They should stick to what they "know" of their business and stay out of others' professions.  I mean, really, they say to forgive the wife/child beater, but they think they know who should run a country?
