Well it's no secret that the Rangers like to rebel against the NHL's rules.

Last year they put a different layout for their site that wasn't the one the NHL made each team use, instead they got their own and battled law suits with the NHL etc.

now lately ive heard more news of the Rangers and the NHL fueding.

My question is, do you Agree with their decisions against the NHL's Robotic like rules.

i like the idea of a team chosing to stick out, and being their own team.

should other teams follow this example?

The Rangers could be in trouble!!!

    Check this out!!

  4. I personally think its important for a league to be united in its online approach.  The problem is when money begins to get involved in the equation.

The Rangers are not causing a stink because they want to be rebelious.  They are a business that wants to earn as much revenue as possible.

What needs to really happen is that the NHL needs to come up with a unified plan of action with their internet marketing and branding approach.

Funny you asked this question because I actually wrote a blog about this very topic last year when the whole New York Rangers fiasco was playing out in front of all of us!

Should other team follow the example?  The answer is the NHL just needs to come up with a common agreeement that all teams can live by and generate the most revenue with their online marketing dollars.

  5. I one-hundred-percent agree with Gary Bettman's outrage towards the New York Ranger's owners. Lest we forget the NHL governs each and all of its teams. Each team is therefore a franchise OF the National Hockey League- NOT the other way around. At the end of the day, the NHL has the authority to (and it this case, does) control its franchises

I see this situation like this. Picture your local McDonald's. Got it? All right, now envision the owner of that McDonald's paints the restaurant lime green and neon yellow. This throws the big wigs at the McDonald's corporation into a tailspin and demands that the owner paints said McDonald's back to the trademark red and yellow of the business. In this situation, the corporation controls the owner and his business, therefore the resturant is painted back to the original colors.

Same deal- the owners wanted to run the team website (I believe, from what I've heard) and the NHL did not allow it. In effect, the owners wanted to paint the website lime green and neon yellow.

  6. I don't give a c**p, who give a **** about their website.  Last time I checked Bettman was commisioner of the league NOT owner of the league.  If you own a team you should be able to market it the way you want, with good taste of course.
