  1. I partially agree. While I entirely support helping the enviroment and going green, I believe that changing the lightbulb changes the meaning of the phrase. You see, an incandescent bulb lights immediately, like a thought suddenly bursts alive in someone's head. However, florescent light bulbs take time to turn on, and start off dim, then slowly brightens. You could say that this is actually a more accurate representation of a thought, as it slowly buds. So, the two bulbs really show different things: a brilliant spur o' the moment thought which could instantly light, but slowly destroy the world VS a slowly developing thought with great potential to save the world. I think that eventually, it will change to florescent, just due to the sudden drastic changes our generation is making in an effort to save the planet, however I do not completely agree that it will be the same as the good old times, when some genious has a lighbulb idea.

  2. The incandescent blub is a classic pictogram of a "bright" idea! I am all for going green, but there is no way that we can replace one of the biggest trademarks of our time! Would you replace the McDonalds golden arches with a boring M just because there is an increase in the number of overweight people and we shouldn't be encouraging the "fried-ness" of the GOLDEN arches??? - NO

  3. Who cares about symbols?  Compact fluorescents are much more energy efficient than incandescents.

  4. Yes, it's green fever. Catch it.

  5. if you have a going green idea.. sure :P

  6. No, they have mercury! Scary!

  7. No. I agree with you. It's a scam. You do know these "environmentally friendly" bulbs contain Mercury, right? Read the fine print about disposal.
