  1. Yes.

  2. why not just give drivers points on their license and no fines at all ,then they can still have the safety aspect without raising revenue.

  3. Yes, Why is everything about making money in this country?

  4. Yes everything this government does is to raise money and not for our benifit they ask us to curb our wage demands then give themselves an above  inflation pay rise  plus more expenses

  5. It sure seems that way.

  6. I absolutely agree. I praise the council for telling the truth about speed cameras. Everybody knows that they simply make money for the government.

Road safety is important but cameras are cash cows disguised as road safety.

  7. No doubt in my mind.....Much like lowering the BAC to .08, and now there's even been rumblings about lowering it to .06.   It's all about the money.

  8. Generally yes but in this case this particular council is complain that the government is taking the fines money they are not saying that camera`s are waste of money are they???So it is just political posturing by Conservatives.  Personally I would rather have the high visibility police on the scene because they can see how the driver is driving the vehicle rather than if he is speeding or not. Going too slow can be just as dangerous in some places as going too fast in other places. There fore we need eyes ears on the road not just speed cams. Would you not agree asker???

  9. Yes, completely - road traffic enforcement has degenerated into fleecing not policing.

  10. Jb ----- Has the best Idea of addressing the Worry about safety. However the present aims of setting up Road CCTV cameras are without doubt and a means of entrapment for imposing fines .A motorist 's front wheels stopping at a Box junction but the front wheels over run the stop line by a foot does not compromise Safety or obstruction . Yet a Penalty notice of £60.00 is issued . Even if the set up of such a Junction was shown to be set up illegally  IE  not conforming to agreed  markings ; even if it was shown to be the wrong type of Box Junction ,even if the Towns Councillors have shown it to be unnecessary for the location. One such a single box junction is shown to be so misplaced among a number of other factors that confused Motorists have had to shell out in PCNs over the previous 12 months alone . One Million Pounds in fine (Just this one Junction )  I could go on and list a number of serious and deliberately placed road markings and CCTV cameras that are used to rake in the revenue for a west London Town government . I agree 100% CCTV cameras are being misused to back up money extraction from fines . Local Governments will in future invent various ways to extract Money through punitive Fines regardless of what Common sense dictates. Fines should only be The role of our justice system .

  11. yes, since when has the governments been worried about the safety of ordinary citizens. Example, Brits killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, thousands dying over lack of resources in the NHS. Yes governments are there to make money out of us all, they couldn't give a hoot about anyone only themselves and their cronies.

  12. Yes. Far too often cameras are not set up in accident black-spots because they wouldn't raise enough money.
