  1. Sometimes the fans are counting punches and think the guy who lands more wins the round but that ain't the case.  Manny landed the more power shots and every round was close.  You have to take it from the champion,  remember that.

  2. Yes they were ringside, and was a tough fight to score.  Since they were ringside and we werent, who are we to doubt?

  3. Yes, I had the fight 114-113 for Pacquiao.

  4. yeah, i have him 115-114 over marquez...about 7-5 rounds...people might think that pacman loses the bout because i supposed they're not used to decisions when watching pacquiao, they must be expecting a k'o win. its a close fight but without the knockdown on the third round marquez could have won the fight or much less got another draw.

clearly, pacman did flurries and most of them solid, while marquez only did some counters which is why he got short with the judges scorecards, only if he's a little bit busier that night he might win.

it makes me laugh when someone speaks about marquez winning the first bout whereas a judge on that fight actually said he had a mistake in  scoring (10-8) 2nd round and should have it 10-7 in favor of pacquiao, so it could have been a split for pacman...(3 knockdown so it should be 10-7...make sense).

it is a "wrong" notion that to beat a champion and get his belt, you must win convincingly i.e. win via ko or tko...which is a norm during the dark ages. Reason why we have judges and referree is to make a decision in the event we have two standing fighters. (well, jmm win over barrera isnt very convincing either) anyway, both guys have a lot of respect to one another...either is a winner, but the guy who punches more and connected more won that fight.

  5. Yes Pacquiao won that fight.

  6. the judges said so....

    so be it.

  7. yes

  8. nah even though jmm was knock down I still had jmm winning by one point. The guy just can't get a break

and who cares if paquiao knock down marquez  4 times in 2 fights u dont determin who wins by who gets the most knock downs morons. its emberasing for apquiao who knocked him down 4 times and still couldnt keep him down

  9. I agree, I agree that Manny Pacquiao won because of that knockdown.. and if he hadn't knocked JMM down, JMM would've won... JMM put on a great fight, but MP just got the best of him in the third round... and JMM just never threw the punches that would daze MP... But I still see the business as unfinish... we will see if they fight again in the lightweight division...

  10. no .it was close but the wrong decision.

  11. Yes.  This is a close fight, NOT a controversial fight.  You have to understand that it was really really tough for the judges to score each round.  Pac eked out a victory, and I think he won.

  12. ney

  13. h**l yeah.

  14. I had it 7 rounds to 5 in favor of JMM but realistically JMM isn't a big ticket seller & MP is. JMM is 34 & is close to the end of his career & isn't big enough to move up in weight & be effective. MP is a big draw & it only makes sense for him to have won this fight. Now he can move up in weight cause he still has time on his side & will still sell tickets.

  15. not at all. JMM won

  16. No.  It should've a split decision for JMM or at least a draw.  You see, JMM was the champ and for Pacquiao to capture the title by decision, it must be very CONVINCING.  He should've been the aggressor  from the opening bell up to the very last round.  This Manny failed to do.  Except for his 3rd round salvo which culminated in a knockdown, Pacquiao was kinda lethargic.  He was clearly picking his shots and not attacking the way he used to.  On the other hand, JMM was on Manny all the time.  Never backed down even after that knockdown.  And obviously, he outboxed Pacquiao.

  17. I don't agree with the judges that manny won, JMM beat him twice

  18. Yes.

Marquez= 4 knockdowns in 24 rounds vs. Pacquiao= no knockdowns.

The better fighter won a close fight. He deserved it coz he prepared for it and knocked him again. For Marquez to win, everybody knows he needs to at least knock down Pacquiao. He couldn't even manage to knock down Manny. In a close fight, that is all that matters.

Pacquiao made him kiss the canvas 4 times in 24 rounds and probably even more had JMM not hanged on the rope when the round was almost over. That to me is crucial. Think about it. How can you gift Marquez the fight when the rounds are almost even. Each round could have gone the other way. But you get knocked down and get rattled a few times and brutally beaten, don't expect to win. The least you could expect is a draw just like the last one. Lucky Marquez got a draw the last time. Had the judge scored the 1st fight correctly in the 1st round, Pacquiao would have won and this fight would have not happened.

A rematch would only see him making love to the canvas again. Poor face.

The man who holds the belt is the champion and the winner. He will be a better champion than JMM ever was because a true champion cannot live on counterpunching alone. That is why people will always pay to see Pacquiao fight because he is the total package. The true champion is the person who's doesn't wait and counterpunch. A champion brings the game to the opponent. A true champion that can excite boxing fans.

Enough is enough. I've seen enough knockdowns in 24 rounds. 3rd fight would be very predictable already. Waste of money. JMM fans need to stop whining and face it like a man and move on. Stop being sore losers and sour grapers. Grow up.

If Manny doesn't fight him again, which I think he won't anymore as there is no more reason to, both professionally and money wise, JMM will just fade away. The sad truth.

  19. Not at all.  I think Juan Manuel Marquez out-boxed and beat Manny -- again.  And so do many observers, including writers for Ring Magazine, AP, ESPN, the Sweet Science, etc: http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-ar...

Even Freddie Roach said it was a controversial close call, which I take as an admission that he knows Marquez should have gotten the decision (since his fighter walked out with his belt): http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-ar...

I will also say that several Filipino fans near me at that fight had expressed their disappointment that they thought Marquez had won as we all awaited the decision.  At the same time, all Marquez fans were celebrating a victory very loudly -- only to be left shaking our heads in disbelief when the final score was read.

It was a great and close fight.  But I think two judges got the wrong fighter winning.
