Do you agree with this assessment of Gov Palin?

This comes from the website, http://electoral-vote.com. What do you think?

"Most reaction to Palin was predictable. Republicans see her as a staunch conservative, a fresh new face, a reformer from outside Washington, and someone with executive experience, which neither Obama nor Biden have. Furthermore, as a woman, a mother with five children, and a moose hunter (and life member of the NRA) she will appeal to women, moderates, Westerners and cement the GOP base. She even rides a motorcycle, which working-class men will applaud. A brilliant pick. But even among dyed-in-the-wool conservatives there were some dissenters, like David Frum.

"Democrats don't quite see it like that. They say she is a featherweight who is completely unprepared to be commander in chief. Her executive experience is primarily 21 months as governor of a state with a quarter the population of Brooklyn. She is strongly antiabortion, not exactly what the disgruntled Clinton supporters are looking for. In short, a disastrous pick for the GOP.

"Most neutral observers are scratching their heads. McCain's strongest argument against Obama is that he doesn't have the experience to be President. How can his first major personnel choice be someone with demonstrably less experience than Obama (6 years as mayor of a village with 5400 people and 21 months as governor vs. 8 years in the Illinois state senate and 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Senate)? Doesn't that undermine his whole campaign? With so many solid choices available like governors Romney, Pawlenty, Sanford, and Ridge, why a total unknown who is being investigated by her own (Republican-controlled) legislature for possible ethical violations. What is McCain thinking?"

  1. Agree.

Palin has experience - in Smallville.

  2. I'm a Canadian who has been following the American election for quite some time now.

I was flabbergasted. I think McCain could not have made a better choice.

She basically nullifies almost all of the democratic arguments against the Republican party. And she completely stifled all the disgusting hype over Obama's speech extravaganza.

And she may be a little shy on experience, but she still has more than the "community organizer," ha.

And anyone who thinks that Canadians shouldn't be interested...Democrats are protectionists, anti-trade, and anti-Canada.

  3. I'm not against voting someone into office that has little experience such as Obama or Palin.  Sometimes it would be good to have Washington outsiders.  However, I do question Obama's ties to the U.S.A.  I wish he had deeper roots here.  So I don't trust him.

I don't like the anti abortions views of McCain/Palin if they are religiously motivated.  But, if they want to overturn that roe v wade on states rights grounds then I am ok with that.

Overall I think there is no perfect candidate so Palin is a great choice.

  4. Here's the truth about Palin:

She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1

Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2

She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3

Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4

She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5

She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6

How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7

  5. What are Obama's accomplishments and what are Palin's accomplishments.  Which one had to make decisions every day about the largest state in the union.  Obama voted Present in the Illinois Senate which is a Maybe.  Not really decisive

  6. I think she's terriific. I am so fired up.  Obama is running as president and didn't get half the scrutiny.  So ,put that in your hope and wait for your change.

  7. No i don't and you know i want oboma for president

  8. Yes, I think this is a very fair, all-around assessment of what the different groups think about Sarah.

  9. Sounds like left wing news B/S would not know for sure as I never listen to it

  10. ..all that and America is absolutely in love with her. lol!

Palin is an excellent choice both women and men can look up to.

  11. i read that garbage on msnbc this morning, they hate everything except obama

  12. I think it was a brilliant  choice for McCain to have chosen her!  She has more experience and has accomplished more than Obama has!  She is a bold speaker and speaks from  her head and heart unlike her democrat counterparts.  McCain still has a strong argument against Obama about his lack of experience and the change part of Obama's speeched was undone by choosing Biden, 40 some years as a Washington man who has botched nearly everything he has been a part of.  Wise move on McCain's part!  McCain-Palin will definitely win this election!  I agree with the first part of the assessment but not the last!

  13. I agree with the first paragraph.  I disagree with the second.  And I totally disregard the third because Sarah Palin is the candidate for VP (who, btw, has more EXECUTIVE experience than Obama), and, as such, her level of experience should not be such as issue as Obama's lack of experience would be as a Presidential candidate.

  14. She's a great choice in my opinion. She may have less years of political experience than Obama but she looks smarter.

  15. I can't agree with your premise

She ran a state and was actually doing things that changed and helped the people of Alaska. She started the Multi billion dollar Gas pipeline that is providing thousands of jobs. A forward looking project that will one day provide natural gas to the lower 48. When ever the Democrats allow drilling. Got the State Congress house and senate to pass her energy bill that saves Alaskans money in their utilities. She is doing it with surpluses that she made. She cut taxes and refunded taxes. Actual work time in the Governors Office, 476 days.  Finally Unlike Obama She actually has visited the troops in Lanstuhl hospital in Germany back in 2007.

Obama the legislator votes, mostly voting Present 95% of the time. I can do that. His actual work time in the Senate, 143 days. He changed nothing in bettering the lives of citizens of Illinois. Zero! Got one bill passed that was giving money to Kenya.

I know the Obamabots want badly for the experience thing to go away. Biden was supposed to take care of that but sorry, It is still there.  Obama is the one that is supposed to be up to bat first and he ain`t ready. In fact our VP is more ready than him.

  16. Yeah--that is a good assesment.  I am a democrat and when I saw his choice for VP I realized that McCain just lost the election.

  17. Nail on the Head.

  18. Well I'm sitting here watching Fox News, they are reading e-mail after e-mail from Hillary Supporters, and others saying they will now be voting  for John McCain because they think Sarah Palin is the right woman for the job. And just for the record, Sarah has more experience then Obama, and Biden put together, and she's had this experience since she was Mayor. So in two years, I'm sure she has only gotten better. I think Obama supporters are going to be shocked, when McCain and Palin take this Country by Storm.

  19. McCain has made a very shrewd choice.  She has the personality and enthusiasm that McCain lacks.

    McCain will win.
