  1. not at all, boxing is about hitting with out getting hit of course,or you'd be no better a technician than a street brawler .but a good chin and a big fighting heart is just some of the ingredients but on its own will just get your *** whooped, and you'll take more punishment than necessary. that kind of stuff is all so called foolish bravery i can't imagine this quote coming from any boxers mouth. he'd have to be a dummy like Rocky Balboa

  2. if its one fighter who proved he can do that its Margarito,

d**n cotto margarito is fight of the year, nothing is gonna top that

  3. I think the quote was meant to be understood as not just a literal meaning but a philosophical one as well. In both regards, this truism holds a lot of weight in boxing.

  4. Well, yes since you can be doing great the whole 12 rounds or so, and leave the opponent weak, but out of nowhere he just gets you an hard uppercut and it can be over, a truly KO can happen..

  5. Yes but hitting hard helps. According to Teddy Atlas, it's all about the jab, combinations and set-ups to go along with defense. Taking a hit is obvious and moving opposite is also described in " Million Dollar Baby" and its true. Like leaning into a punch, its not a natural reaction for people. That's why training is so important. So I do believe the quote but its only a part of what boxing is.

  6. My opinion, The less a boxer gets hit, the better for his health. Look at Floyd, he is a smart guy. He knew fighting Cotto or Margo meant confronting the hardest punchers in the welter division.

  7. I agree a little... But if you can't parry or dodge or block their punches, and they can yours, you're going to lose.

  8. In the movie, Rocky says "that's what winning is about" and it is true.  To be able to press on when you are hurt and don't think you can.  Maybe it isn't so much winning as it is heart.  That is why you see fighters like Zab Judah quit.  They can hit but they are unwilling to take the hit and keep moving forward.

It is a very good quote and inspirational.  I still say "Rocky Balboa" would have been a better movie if they didn't rush the 2nd half of it and if they didn't cut my scene out.  I read for the part of the bar thug in Philly but didn't get it.  I filmed as an extra in 2 other scenes but got cut.  If you look real close you can see my arm for about 1/8 of a second from about 100 yards away!!
