  1. Royalty is an outdated form of government. It's about time that we got rid of them like most countries around the World have done.

  2. Eff off. I am a council tenant and work very hard to support my family, I bitterly resent your kneejerk assumption that council tenants are all workshy scroungers. Eff off and die.

  3. I think the question is just jealous.

Royals do work hard, and in some ways not as free as rest of us as they cannot just pop down to the cafe or out to buy a paper.

  4. If you knew anything about the Royal Family, you would understand that that statement is absolute rubbish.

  5. 80% of us want them. Last time I checked we lived in a democracy, so there you are.

They bring in 4 times as much as they take. Fact.

That is nonsense written by a moron who wants attention. I would advise you to read a better newspaper.

  6. I disagree with that statement.  Queen Elizabeth II has dedicated 56 years of Her Majesty's life to serve and carry out thousands of official duties.  Her Majesty is well over the typical retirement age yet Her Majesty works hard and continues to carry out hundreds of engagements annually. Her Majesty represents Britain extremely well and has certainly done an excellent job in providing stability and continuity in times of change.

Moreover, Her Majesty maintains strong relationships with countries worldwide and has shown love and dedication to the British people.  Members of the Royal Family such as HRH Prince Harry has proven to be a brave 'war-hero' when he travelled to Afghanistan with the rest of the army to fight the Taliban.  The third-in-line to the throne of England and the Commonwealth realms was putting his life at risk out of his own will.  HRH Prince William, has done another excellent job in the army and had also briefly travelled to Afghanistan and he is second-in-line to the throne.  Princess Diana was a great woman too, during her short life, she walked across a field of landmines, went around the world to help the less fortunate and many more.  Although she was the wife of the heir to the throne and was immensely wealthy, she did not just donate a portion of her wealth, she went there and did the work!

Many of them are great people and are certainly not 'just like council tenants that don't work by living off taxpayers money'.  To say such a thing is really unfair towards them.

  7. yes   but lets be honest here council house tenants are on the whole honest hard working people, I cant say that about royalty and in my opinion the last royal this country will ever have is already on the throne the people of this country will not tolerate more royals who are over paid for the little work they do

  8. Sure do, they are the greatest parasites in history.

  9. "Don't work"?  Their lives, the Queen's especially,  are a constant round of public appearances (smile though your heart is breaking, or your head aches, or your feet hurt), meetings with elected officials (whom you had no vote in electing), signing bills (which you feel you must read but must sign no matter how strongly you disagree with them), and keeping it up, out of a sense of duty, well past the age at which anyone else could retire.  The monarchy is a constant, stable, and stabilizing factor, no matter how chaotic the surrounding conditions may become.

  10. The queen, at 80, still does 250 public appearances a year.

I don't know how she does it, myself, but the lady WORKS for her money.

  11. If we did not have a Queen which most of the world admire we would have to have a President that they would not, like Tony Blair.

  12. I'm English, under 35, and a monarchist (and until convinced of a better system for my country will remain one) not because of the personalities involved, but because it’s a crucial part of Britain’s one thousand year history of being an independent nation.

Besides, I don't want a boring suited president to be my head of state. I want a ‘Head of State’ that makes a statement as to my country’s history, and gives it the grander and dignity that it is due, and of course the public recognition abroad.
