  1. I can agree with this statement.

Love and hate are both judgments. They can be as unreasonable as a prior "bad" experience with someone who had red hair, thus "all redheads are a***oles,"  or loving someone because all your friends are falling in love  and you crave that experience. Perhaps you had an aunt in childhood named Terry and she was your favorite person, then you meet a Terry and that feeling replays in your head and you love that Terry, no matter how awful that Terry is to others, you love her still...judgment. Maybe your dad, who smoked a pipe, was an uncaring, indifferent person and you meet someone years later that smokes a pipe...an automatic, unreasonable dislike rears its head.

Once you have decided that a certain thing produces a certain reaction, you have made a judgment concerning ALL similar things. It's difficult to break that mindset. Add to it the influences you allow to color your own judgments, and you have the unreasoning love/hate that you project onto everyone, and everything, surrounding you.

  2. ...disagree...love and hate resides within the individual...and how the day progresses...so, is ones expression...

  3. I would alter it slightly.

"If people are going to hate you, they will use each and every reason to hate you whether you give it to them or not, but If a person is going to love you, they will love you for each and every reason you give them."

  4. I am reading a book called WOODEN about basketball coach John Wooden in it he tells a story that fits this question.

A man stops at a gas station and asked " I am thinking of moving here what are people around here like? Gas station attendant asked, "what are they like where you live"? He says" they are mean and dishonest". Attendant says "you will find them here like that too".

Second man stops at gas station asks same question. Attendant asked same. Second man replied," kind and trustworthy". Attendant says"You will find them here like that too".

Point is you find what you are looking for.

  5. It's true, but only within its domain.

Once people decide whether to hate or love you, they do

tend to marry their original opinions, but you do have some

    controll over that first decision.
