Question:

Do you all agree on this?

Regardless of our religious beliefs or lack of them, we all want to live in peace and be happy, so shouldn't we put our differences aside and just help each other?!

I've been smoking( tobacco not other things) and having a few beers and thinking about life, well wouldn't it make more sense?

  1. I agree. Most religions teach the same basic principles, and aim for peace. And i believe most PEOPLE aim for peace and are outraged by the terrible things that happen in this world.

I think to help toward a better future you need to be a peacful and accepting person, then maybe you can influence others to act the same way. And even if you don't, it will help your peace of mind ^^

I think about that kinda thing ALL the time.

  2. Of course that makes sense, in a perfect utopian world and that is what I thought too except for one little teensy tiny thing.  The urge to save humanity is nearly always a false face for those who want to rule it.

Bwahahaha, indeed, most people are greedier than they think.  See, I learned about this utopia thing in class once.  We were put in groups and then supposed to create a functional society on a deserted island.  I wanted to be in charge because I figured that if we all just got along happily the way I wanted and shared everything happily the way I wanted and were good to one another the way I wanted then we would all be happy the way I wanted.  h**l everyone wants to be treated well and be happy right?  But everyone else didn't want to be happy my way so I got the boot as leader.  It was fun, taught me a lot about diversity.  Anyway, that is why we can't put our differences away, because that is what makes us happy and others are not happy the same way.  By the way, you shouldn't smoke.  You see, on my utopian island smoking wouldn't be allowed because it would make people sick.....hee hee.  j/k.  so you see where the problems would begin and utopia would end.  :)  Have fun!!

  3. in an ideal world!!!!!!

  4. Im all for it ,we call it loving thy neighbor.

    tGod bless

  5. Duh!

  6. some beliefs are taken the wrong way, and a person then beleives they must destroy all the other nations! There has never a never will be peace on Earth, until the Lord returns for the third time( read revelations if you  are confused) And I just plan to live my life not in fear of death, but waiting for peace in heaven!

  7. That's what Jesus certainly taught, so I agree.  Jesus even said, "Blessed are the peace makers (it's not referring to law enforcement officers), for they shall be called the children of God."

He said that TRUE religion, undefiled, is to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, house the homeless, bring comfort to those who mourn, bring help to the helpless, hope to the hopeless, etc, etc, etc.  That certainly sounds like helping each other to ME.  In fact, it's SO important to Jesus that He even said that if you've done this to the very LEAST person, it's as though you did it to ME.

So, I will try to help you by encouraging you to quit smoking and drinking, because you might (it's been proven that you actually COULD) have a longer life that way.    :-)

  8. Not yet.  The abrahamic religions are dangerous to every person on the planet.  They have to go.

  9. Your advice is so practical and so easy to fulfil.

  10. Yes, unfortunately, us humans aren't perfect, and most can't learn to live without some sort of conflict. =/ It's very sad, but it's true. If only everybody agreed with that statement...

  11. That would be the smart thing to do but some people are to stupid to see that.

  12. I agree, but a lot of people don't. You are a minority and unfortunately the majority rules. I'm not just talking about your surroundings, I'm talking about the world. The whole world would like to be a passive society. But, there are family's suffering everyday from starvation or dehydration. Watching your own child die because you could not provide for them has a profound effect upon your self worth. You have the luxury of asking this question while smoking tobacco and having a few beers. You said "we all want to live in peace and be happy, so shouldn't we put our differences aside and just help each other." Are you the one, to start helping each other? We can only hope.

  13. I can agree on that.  :)

  14. Yes, it does make sense. It is so fundamentally simple. I find it hard that in 2008 where society has  finally accepted some aspects (for example: g**s can get married), people who have strong religious beliefs STILL don't accept others who are different from them.

I'm glad you think this way, too. Unfortunately, the rich white men that run the country don't think so.

  15. Smoking and drinking, no surprise your thinking like this.  But yes, we could, except there are too many cultural differences, and we can't just push aside religion to achieve peace.  Besides, human nature can't go on with peace.  There will always be conflict.

  16. I do live in peace and wish all people happiness regardless of differences.

Don't take this forum that seriously.

  17. Your assumption is false.  All people do not want to live in peace and be happy.  Most people want to have what they think they are lacking.  And most people feel so strongly about their beliefs that they don't want to put them aside.  They wonder, "Why should I put MY beliefs aside?...Why don't you put YOUR beliefs aside?"

Every conflict involving living beings, both human and non, can be boiled down to this simple fact:

    Have vs. Don't Have.

The Don't Haves want what the Haves have.  The Haves don't want to share what they have, because if they do, they become Don't Haves, and nobody really wants to be a Don't Have.

    Get it?

  18. It would and does to those who are tolerant of others ideas. The problem arises when individuals claim the all knowing status. It's a great way to ruffle feathers.

  19. That is all I ask for on R & S!   Why can't we just say our personal beliefs and leave the attacking of others - out!

I am practising that idea on here - no reporting, no insulting others, unless I think it is a troll trying to pull everyone's collective legs!

And then in that case, I join right in and send out a silly or ridiculous idea!

  20. Sadly, we cannot do that, as long as there is one person who feels that he is better than anyone else

  21. OMG YESSS!! VOTE FOR OBAMA!1!!!11!! YES WE CAN!!!1!1!

    lol

  22. yes

  23. sadly not everyone wants to.....in all honestly i would without a doubt as so would some  reglious ppl but the sad fact not everyone cares about mankind or eachother for that matter...but regardless of those ppl it will eventually happen in possibly the next 100 years......or we kill each other in world war 3 lol....gawd im gonna get thumbs down knw

  24. Sounds perfect!  But in truth, we do not all want to live in peace. We DO however all want to be happy. And there is a great big difference between the two. People often claim that this idea of world peace would solve all the problems we now see and we could then just live out the rest of our lives in perfect harmony together as one.

But there is a huge reason why this is never going to happen simply by wanting it to. Even if we all agreed tomorrow that we all wanted this very same thing, it still would cease to exist. Why? Because the reality is, we really do not want to love each other as we say we do. At the very bottom of it all, each one is really only out for themselves.

I know this sounds really harsh but when you think about it,  without this being the truth of our condition, we would never have any motivation to continue living. Each person in every moment is always making a calculation as to what will bring them happiness and at what cost.  I realize this might seem a bit negative and I used to think along those same lines, but after taking a long hard look for myself, I see that this is the actual reality of how we operate.

Check out this video clip that answers your question very well. Why is it that we can't just all get along? Because by our very nature, it is impossible. I hope you find the answers you are searching for. Best wishes.

  25. If you need help drinking your beer I'd be glad to help. If you need help to stop drinking your beer, Jesus'd be glad to help.

  26. yes it would, I agree

  27. Well maybe when your in your right mind without the beers then people will want to talk. The truth is, there can never be peace because to many people want power. That is how wars start. People are going to disagree. Even people of the same faith or religion are going to disagree. God gave free will to us. Why? Because He loves us and doesn't want to be forceful. If it were possible to put differences aside then it would have already happened. But God loves us all the same.

  28. I believe that people just need to learn to Love. That if we can Love the differences won't matter, because in the end, Love is what it's about. JMO

  29. I agree!

POE,TS! [Push Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday!]

  30. It's a fair question to ask.  Maybe people turn to religion and politic ideas when they are influenced by alcohol...

You are right though, we all want peace and all want diversity to be accepted, otherwise we would be hypocrites.  Unfortunately, Hendrix said it best "we will not know world peace until the colors of our skin don't matter"

    Nice topic though!

  31. Yeah, love and peace. I think this would be great if people were like this.
