Do you also have this feeling that something REALLY BAD will happen during the Beijing Olympics?

It's not like I'm wishing for something bad to happen over there. I want the games to go as smoothly as humanly possible.

It's just that I have this feeling that something BIG will happen there that will cause a code red for olympic security.

Something like this have happened before... the Munich 72' games where almost the entire Israeli delegation got blown to bits... the 1996 Atlanta olympics where a bomb went off in the olympic village.

Only this time... I have this gut feeling that something 10 times as bad will happen.

If it does... just call me Nostradamus.

  1. WASHINGTON (AFP) - - A Muslim separatist group in China has made a new video threat against the Beijing Olympics, warning Muslims to keep their children away from the games, a US group that monitors extremists said Thursday.

The nearly six-minute video shows flames consuming a Beijing Olympics logo and an explosion over a venue for the competition, and features a masked, turbaned speaker clutching what appears to be an assault rifle.

  2. not really.

i know something embarrassing is going to happen because some groups will try to use the olympics to air their issues, but no, nothing like munich or atlanta

  3. nope, why should i? they have tight security so nothing to worry about.

  4. you could hardly get a visa to china right now in time for the olympics.    they are done inviting people and would prefer to close their country for security reasons.

  5. Nike: Anything is possible.

Well, I can make 100 predictions a day and publish it and tell the people it happened and show my proof but you know we really can't tell.

I hope and I pray that you will not be popular!:)

I hope you'll be popular in other ways like you're a millionaire or something

    Peace!

  6. ...I don't even want to think about it. :-S

  7. I am not sure. We just have to wait and see.

  8. I saw from the news yesterday that chinese muslims are plotting something for the opening of the olympics.

I hope its not going to happen though.

  9. Uh, no I don't have that feeling.

  10. Considering the amounts of protests and threats from religious fanatics - you could be right.

No amount of security will be able to stop a determined terrorist.

Although, Chinese law is a bit easier - they will probably shoot first and ask questions later.

I hope you are wrong, but i fear you may be right.

  11. Ok, you may be right, but protests are aimed at anoying China over pressing issues, not catastrophe.

If you wanted to hold an event, nowadays, I guess you would consider the quality of security, the number of police & similar that can be deployed & the effectiveness & efficiency of those to deal with threats.

If anything, I suspects some opponents' protests over China are to do with  disagreement with how thoroughly China deals with just such.

Personally, I'd feel safe in beijing just now.  Obvious police presence & recent shows of anti-terrorist squads in major towns.

I am no expert, but I suspect Beijing security is tight.

If only I didn't feel bored to tears with most sports, I'd be tempted to go.

  12. Yes, I also have this feeling but not that way as you have expressed.

It will not be less than blast  for those who will loose, and even tight  security will not be enough to give them the joy.

  13. the news are talking about threats. better if these are false alarms only. praying nothing bad happens
