  1. No, I didn't. My friend got them though, she said it was a bit sore of half a day and that was it.

It would depend on the condition and severity of your mouth. If you have really bad teeth, jutting out in every direction, he may go straight to the braces (I had very bad teeth obviously lol). If you just want to clean some problem up that is a normal problem for most people spacers may be the way to go.

I've noticed people with spacers often do not have to wear their braces as long too.

  2. It really depends on why you need the braces for.

I didn't have spacers because I just need adjustment for my overbite.

If he didn't say anything about spacers, I don't think you need them. Nevertheless want them. Spacers are REALLLLLY painful. I had to watch a good friend of mine be in a lot pain for a week.

  3. You only need spacers of you're getting bands. Many orthodontists these days bond brackets to your molars instead of fitting bands.

  4. um i'd hope you'd get spacers before. all they do is make room for your band that goes around your back teeth.

  5. It depends, maybe your teeth already have some enough space between them so spacers are unnecessary.  I do recall that I had to get spacers before braces but I had one less than the normal amount because there was already sufficient space between those teeth.
