  1. its not bad at all

i sometimes ask my dentist to give me more shots

he freezes the are first witha topical freezing gel ont the inside of ur cheeck and then injects the shot so u dont fee it as much. u really have nothing to worry about. just close ur eyes u will hardley notice him/her doing it

  2. NO, YOU DON'T ALWAYS NEED A SHOT. PEOPLE DON'T LIKE TO FEEL ANYTHING WHILE DRILLING IS DONE, SO THEY ASK FOR THE SHOT. THE DRILLING MAY BE PAINFUL BECAUSE IT'S CLOSE TO THE NERVE AND A SHOT IS NEEDED.

  3. nope, i didnt get a shot when i had a filling

  4. Well I've had to get a few fillings in my day and yes I got the novacaine shot.  I was probably 6 or 7 when I first got this done so if I got through it without a problem you sure will. It doesn't really hurt at all. And if your lucky, you may not need it and they'll use this q-tip with the stuff that makes your gums numb on it instead. That happened to me once.

  5. I always got a shot when I had to get a filling- but don't worry they put some numing stuff on it so it wont hurt.

  6. Honestly, I looove getting a shot when I have to get a filling. You seriously can't feel it go in, if you poke your gum with your nail... yup it feels like that. So when the dentist is drilling, you can't feel any pain!

No, you don't need it every time AND if the dentist says he wants to use it and you really don't want it, you can ask not to have it. Simple as that.

    A usual alternative is sleepy-gas.

  7. Would you rather have a shot that hurts a teeeeeny tiny bit for 2 seconds, or have the drill into your tooth, soft pink tissue and all with no pain killer?  Then they have to fill in the cavity with the filling... the nerves in your teeth are super sensitive- you really want the shot, trust me!

The needle looks worse than it is.  It's very very long, but only like 1/4 inch pierces the skin.  it's long because the dentist's hands are too big to fit all the way in your mouth and they need a long needle to be able to reach your gums.

Seriously, the shot feels like a small pinch, and whatever pain you feel will be over in seconds cause the painkiller numbs the gums pretty much right away.

    Don't be nervous!!

  8. I have had 9 fillings in my time, the first when I was seven and the most recent last year when I was twenty. I have had them with and without shots and I would definatly recommend having the shot, it really doest hurt, its just a slight stinging.

The needle and syringe however do look scary so just close your eyes, take slow deep breathes and try to relax.

    Good Luck, Be Brave
