Question:

Do you answer questions when you don't know the answer?

Even if you have no idea what the answer is or anything to back it up, do you do it just for 2 points? Do you feel people who answer questions not knowing or just have completely stupid answers are rude?

  1. I think this thing is based on "opinions" rather than "answers"!! there are no right answers for a lot of the questions, Just different views. If there was a right answer for everything then there would be no yahoo answers! lol

  2. there are many people like that

    Answer mine?

  3. this is the only best answer to this question:

    I don't know.

thanks for the 2 points...keep em coming

  4. An elephant is pregnant for 20-22 months...I cheated by the way and looked on google....sorry.

ANYWAY, i'll look at the questions i don't know just to see some reply, and probably gives some thumbs up/down to whatever made sense.

I'll answer questions I know I can give valuable input to, and others i have no idea about i just don't answer or look at.  I think i've only given dumb*ss answers to stupid questions like "My husband beats me and cheats on me in front of me..should i stay?" It's rare i do, but there are days that stupid questions just REALLY get to me and i have to vent with stupid answers.

Other than that rude if they answer my question with stupidity?  Yea it erks me a little if it isn't funny or it's just insulting me, otherwise i care less, i'm fully aware there are many dumb*sses and *ssholes that exist and love to make themselves feel better about their day by trolling or pissing people off, so when they come it comes as no suprise, and i appreciate the REAL answers i receive, and call it a good day when i get more than the dumb ones :).

  5. i like to answer to the best of my ability,  depending on the question i might be very serious  or quite humorous

  6. I agree with J-Button that everyone has an opinion, and we're willing to share our thoughts with others in hopes that we may actually be able to help someone.

  7. For this particular question..I only wanted the 2 points.

  8. I know exactly what you are talking about.  When people answer "I don't know" or "thanks for the 2 pts".  I hate that!  I think it's very rude.  It happens all the time to me.  I'll ask a question if anyone has ever used a product and I get 5 answers that say "no" or "my son has and he likes it but I have no idea what brand" or when I asked about Cruise control and which brand would be best I got "not a clue" "ask a mechanic" or "just try one and see".

Those answers are pathetic.  None answers the question at all (which I thought was the POINT of answering questions on Y!A) and in fact makes other people not answer the question b/c they see you already have 6 answers so they don't click on your question.

I select No Best Answer and then I feel bad about it but I just can't give  a stupid answer 10 pts.  The worst is when you answer a question.  The only other answer is "I don't know" and the person gives them best answer instead.  It makes the board not worth coming on.

Why bother saying "I don't know"?  Whats the point?  Why not just go answer questions that are opinion based or that you do know the answer to?  I wish I had the ability to delete those type of answers so that my question would still show up as 0 answers.

  9. i believe an elephant is pregnant for 22 months. don't quote me on it....

i also try to click on questions that i happen to think i know the answer to, or maybe if i could speak my opinion on a question.

i do click on questions that i do not know the answer to, just to read all the answers that were given for that question, and usually give them a rating on their answers.... if i can answer i do, if i cannot, i just pass it up.

  10. thats a possibility.

  11. If I start answering a question and find myself grasping for the right words to form my answer, I just don't answer the question.  If it doesn't flow, then I know I shouldn't post anything.

  12. No .... I skip those questions.

Now, I have read some pretty ridiculous questions that must admit I have added my 2 cents worth just for the points.

It is frustrating to get opinions to my questions rather than real answers -- especially with a very important question.
