Yes, a girl in my Spanish class last year was named Amara. She was 1/2 Puerto Rican and really funny! I liked her.

Yes, I do actually.  She's in her 20s, and her parents chose the name as they preferred unusual ones.  I don't think it was in the top 1000 when they used it.  But, in 2007, Amara was the 570th most popular girls' name!  That name was given to 517 girls born that year, compared to over 19,000 for the #1, Emily.

My cousins baby is called Amara, its so cute isn't it! My cousin is called Tara, and she wanted her babies name to be similar to hers. Her middle name is Evie, which is similar to her grandmas name, Everlyn.
