Do you appreciate our "emergency" services, or do you just?

I do appreciate the emergency services very much and wish that the government would provide them with the resources (I don't just mean salaries) that they need to to the job properly.

I  also wish the government would give the police a judicial system that actually punishes offenders rather than teating them as victims.

I work with various police depts & the fire service and believe me they are all under appreciated.  The police are slagged off openly and then the same person will turn round a second later and demand (not ask) help.  It takes a lot of self-control not to react to that.  A lot of fire fighters I know have had bricks thrown at them while they're putting out fires and one had a fire work thrown at him recently.  Do we appreciate the - do we h**l.

I took them for granted most of my life. It wasn't until my life was really in there hands that I began to appreciate the many different emergency services and also doctors and nurses. They have my respect and appreciation.

I had occasion to phone them recently and they put me on 'hold'. What constitutes an emergency nowadays? Next they will have privatised call centres - press 1 for murder, press 2 for assault with deadly weapon etc..........

Yes I appreciate them, but don't think they are allowed to do their jobs properly!

They all do the best job they are allowed to do,the police should have more powers to sort out all the little scrotes that run riot.Take a leaf from the Americans no nonsense approach.
