Let's give a show of hands here! Let's show our support for George Bush, right here and now, so he knows, at least Yahoo is right behind him if he declares a National Security Threat and Executive Orders drilling offshore immediately! I am for it!

  1. Yes, we need to do something. It's still a good idea to try to come up with alternative energy solutions. But we are still dependent on oil. So we might as well get the oil that is in our country. There is also shale oil. If I understand it correctly it is oil that is in rocks. Supposedly if we could develop a way to get that, we would have more oil than Saudi Arabia. And I read that there is a way to convert coal into oil. And we have the biggest supply of coal in the world. But I'm sure our wonderful congress will sit around and argue about it for a couple of years before we do anything.

  2. will this make Bush richer? how much money does he need?

  3. i saw that comeing he is a oil junkie

  4. h**l no I don't support raping our country's assets to fill the rich and greedy corporate pockets.

  5. I am not for it, it will be an ecological disaster waiting to happen.

The rest of your tirade is absurd.

  6. I wouldn't support Bush in anything that he does

  7. Uh, Bush is not considering an executive order for offshore drilling...he is considering the lifting of a ban on offshore drilling which was put in place by an executive order from his father.  There's a difference.

FYI, congress also put a ban on offshore drilling and Bush's lifting of the previous executive order would make no difference.

I agree with Bush's sentiment, but it changes nothing...the congressional ban still stands.

  8. Bush is still pimping out the 9/11 dead to continue to enrich his buddies in the oil business.

He already used them to start his war in Iraq-a war he was planning at his first cabinet meeting long before 9/11.

Cheney even had Iraqi oilfield maps at his Secret Energy Summit with his buddies that head the oil companies a few months before 9/11.

That was about the same time that the Bush/Cheney administration gave all that money to the Taliban.

Now Bush is trying to pimp out the 9/11 dead again by touting his plan for more land grabs for his oil buddies in the name of "National Security".

    That's shameless.

But then, it is  Bush .

He did refer to 9/11 as hitting the "TRIFECTA".

The oil companies only use 20% of all the oil leases they have now.

In Nevada, 99% of all oil leases go unused by the oil companies that hold them.

They pay a measly $3/acre to keep a hold on Federal Land.

Now Bush is trying to open more Federal Land for a land grab by his buddies in the oil business.

They should be forced to use the oil leases they already hold.

Those areas won't cause problems for coastal tourism and fishing/shrimping.

Many Republicans oppose offshore drilling due to the impact it would have on the economies of their states.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Bush's own brother JEB BUSH OPPOSE OFFSHORE DRILLING!!!

Charlie Crist opposed it up until a few weeks ago when he flip-flopped after he got his name on the short list to be Old Man McCain's VP.

It is despicable that Republicans would try to tie this land grab to "National Security".

But then, they have been pimping out the 9/11 dead for years.

  9. Yea, great idea since oil companies are SO CONCERNED about us paying so much for gas! The oil that would be extracted will be be for the WORLD market, not just the U.S by the way. At that time (when there's actual production), demand in China, India, etc. will be even higher and our reserves are not even that large relatively speaking. The price of oil will not be $70 per barrel, that is insanely false. Who told you that nonsense? In any case, it is low-emissions vehicles NOW and alternative energy for the future. No excuses. No pipe dreams. The next president needs to demand it- not "suggest". DEMAND.

  10. Heck yeah!   We need energy, and going to domestic sources helps get us out of bed with unfriendly foreign nations who take our dollars and use them against us.

More drilling in Alaska, and Offshore (we can do it cleaner and safer than other countries).  More solar, wind, and nuclear plants.
