Question:

Do you ask God for forgiveness for all the bad things you done in your life?

I am talking about all the bad things you done. All of them. You need to have a very clean record when you die and go to heaven for judgment.

How do you ask for forgiveness?

And how do you know if God has forgiven you or not?

Have you ever doubted in God? Have you ever thought there was no such thing as God?

Have you ever turn your back on God, and then got back on the right path.

I have turned my back, and said some bad things. And it was because of the Atheists on Yahoo Answers.

Have Atheists ever convinced you not to believe in God?

  1. Yes, every day, and make these things into, sin's, tryngs to do bad etc.

    God Bless You! =)

  2. Yes, I have asked for forgiveness for the things in my past.  Simply by asking, there is no special way to ask, be truthful to God when you ask.  If you truly believe and have faith, you know you have been forgiven. You don't have to ask to be forgiven for the past again (over and over), or you show God that you don't believe in His forgiveness.

I have never doubted in God, but I have doubted in Satan's power.  Which i quickly found to be a huge mistake in my life. So i did turn my back to God in that way.  And came running back to Him, begging His forgiveness.  I still have things occur in my life that I ask forgiveness for, like anger or coveting.

The atheists only strengthen my belief, because their words and actions are exactly what the Bible says how they have been and still are.  They live in darkness because of their unbelief.

It saddens me how much God offers and asks so little in return and they just turn their backs to Him.

    Peace be with you.

  3. Yes- for all of the bad things I have INTENTIONALLY done.  Nope, I disagree.  Don't need a "very clean record when you die".  God knows you better than you know yourself.  He'll forgive what we've forgotten to ask forgiveness for.  Don't need to know if He has forgiven me.  Just HOPE He does.  Of course I have doubted God.  I am a weak, fragile human being and He is tolerant of me.  And yes, I have turned my back during the times when I believed He had abandoned me.  And yes, I have gotten back on the path when I realized that the struggles are merely "tests".

Don't place blame on the atheists or on yahoo answers or on the w***e on the street corner.  Be accountable.

Nobody has ever convinced me of anything without my permission.

  4. Yes, I do.  It turned into a growing up experience.  And not just for the clean record, but so that I can be free of the ugliness of my selfishness and pride.  I do want to be a better person, a person that walks in love, and in order to do that I have to kill the selfishness in me.

I just admit that I sinned, and ask Him to forgive me.  And I ask Him to PLEASE help me to change and not do it anymore.  It may not work the first few times, but after awhile I do see a definite change in me.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." ~ 1 John 1:9

I've doubted more in myself than God, that can be a problem.  The thought that God isn't real only briefly came to mind.  He's proven Himself to me, so I do strongly believe.

I did run and rebel for ten years.  Nearly died several times, went thru h**l on earth.  Thank God I survived that!  Then I came back to Jesus.

Atheists or anyone could not change my mind now.  Even though their tactics now seem to resemble an evangelical or peer pressure blitz.

You always have a chance to turn back to Jesus.  He is patiently waiting.  Just please don't wait til it's too late.  We are not guaranteed tomorrow.

No pressure to do it, but I do want you to know that God never stopped loving you.  And your brothers and sisters in Christ do love you, even if they aren't so good at showing it sometimes.

Thank you for being honest and sincere, that is quite refreshing.

  5. Well, I'll try to keep it short and sweet because one can speak at length about each of these questions. As always, I don't mean to offend anyone, I am not a pastor..I am answering these questions as I understand these things to be today....

I think when you ask for forgiveness...that is it...you just ask. You say something like, "Please forgive me for all that I have done wrong...consciously or unconsciously."

You know that GOD forgives because he said he would if you ask. That is why GOD sent his son, JESUS, here on earth.

There have been several times in my life that I have doubted...and yes, I have questioned if GOD really existed. I think most people go through a time in their lives when they ask, "well, if GOD exists, why would he allow this bad thing or that bad thing to happen" The truth is....I still don't know why but I trust in GOD. And no...atheists have never convinced me to believe or not. I take things that people say into consideration but I research for myself and come to my own conclusions. When answering the GOD question....it all comes down to this for me:

If I believe in GOD, and he doesn't exist, when I die, I have nothing to lose.

If I don't believe in GOD, and he does exist, when I die, I have EVERYTHING to lose.

  6. I have been a Christian for over thirty five years. I can honestly tell you that according to the Bible, we are NOT ONCE told to "ASK for forgiveness" in order to BE forgiven.

What we ARE told to BELIEVE is  that God actually DID something with those sins that Jesus died for.

He says He removed them as far as the east is from the west. He says "I will remember your sins NO MORE." He says "You are forgiven ALL your sins"...ALL of your sins were future when He died for them. Your ASKING isn't what forgave you in Gods eyes; YOUR BELIEVING what HE did FOR you on the Cross is what forgave you...past tense.

We HAVE a clean record if we are trusting that Jesus took ALL our sins with Him and they were nailed WITH Him onto the Cross two thousand years ago. We KNOW God has forgiven us because His word tells us that Christ rose from the DEAD. If even ONE sin was left out, Christ would not and COULD not have risen from the dead, That is why the RESURRECTION is so important in Christianity. IT is proof positive that God the Father accepted the payment in FULL for ALL sins for ALL time.

Everyone doubts...but as we "STUDY to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that doesnt need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth" 2 Tim 2:15, we come to know that the Christian walk is one of continuing to trust what GOD HAS SAID.

Don't blame atheists for YOUR choice not to believe what God has said. If you study your Bible then you will easily counter the silly comments made by atheists because you KNOW what the Word of God DOES say. You will KNOW that what they say is totally off the wall and NOT scriptural. We are to listen to GOD, not to those who set themselves AGAINST HIM.

  7. Nah. (The atheists can NEVER convince me to ever turn away from The Lord.) "They" have their own 'stuff' to deal with about God Almighty, sooner or later, me? I press on. (I ask The Lord, daily, to cleanse me and to forgive me of anything that I can 'remember' that I have done, and He has already forgiven my past because I did 'personal inventory' on my soul and He is still forgiving me.) The 'deal' is,,, am "I" going to forgive 'myself'??
