  1. "Everything?!" -No way. But I DO listen closely- so that I hear what's being "said"-and NOT Said-  between the lines... :)

  2. Half of it is bologny.

    _______

  3. No way. They don't always report the full story, and there's usually a slant to get you to believe what they want to believe. It isn't just the world, it's the world through their colored glasses if you know what I mean.

The most obvious slant is party v. party; you can definitely tell which channel pushes what views.

  4. considering there is a high percentage of things you read or hear that is not fact, why would you think any one source is any better than another?

  5. It would be stupid not to compare sources and make an educated assessment. In other words NO

  6. nope

  7. Most news now tells you what they want you to believe rather than just reporting facts!!

  8. heck no! more than once we have had scandals at our school that the news reported on and because of politics the story that the news showed completely covered what really happend up and even twisted some words..it was really sad when the news caster actually came up to students and told us that what he HAD to report wasn't even what really happend and the students envolved also claimed that what was said on the news wasn't true

  9. no there are a lot of biased writings in the news

  10. Most of it. But, that's because my sources are other than TV news in the U.S. Since 1949 I've been a devoted listener to English language short wave radio. Now I'm able to listen to my favorite stations via the web streaming feature on my computer. Right now I'm listening to the afternoon edition of "Pacific Beat" on Radio Australia and a fascinating report on earthquake science and the potential for heavy damage if quakes along the lines of the quake in China hit in the Pacific region.

The source below is the link to a web site that will allow you to link with some of these broadcasts.

  11. Not on your life! The media is controlled by people who have senators in their pocket and more money than they could use in several lifetimes. Money=influence=power

  12. Of course. It's completely factual, just like the internet.

  13. Like h**l!

News is just a product like anything else, and it can be changed as the ones in power see fit.

  14. There are some people in the News business I will believe, others that I won't.  It's difficult now, because the sources of political news are often the White House or Pentagon and we only given what we "need to know," which isn't much and isn't always factual.

Since the Media is just about our only source of information, if you discount rightwing propaganda, leftwing propaganda, right and leftwing Blogs, etc., we are dependent upon it for most of our knowledge.  There was a time when it was independent of Corporate interests, but that time has passed.

All News Media is completely shackled by advertising. If they displease their advertisers, they are toast.  They are also in the grip of huge Corporate owners, and the best thing we could do is break up the conglomerates and go back to the rule of limiting the ownership of news sources.

This Administration has brought another shadow into the truthfulness of the News and that is Fear.  Threats of criminal charges and examples of retaliation have made reporters hesitant to dive into controversial subjects.

However, some things cannot be distorted.  If the Iraqi death toll rises and rises and rises, you can surmise that things have not been handled too well.  If the money is spent and the problems remain, that is further proof that something is wrong.  If you use your head and powers of deduction, you can glean some information from the news, even if it is sorely lacking in fact.

  15. Not at all. Remember, they are more worried about their ratings then telling the truth.

  16. Some times and mabe sometimes not . Because rumors and eyes but it really depends on what you think!!

  17. of course not

  18. No, especially when it is the news saying that President Bush is to blame for our problems.  No one realizes, we never had these problems until the DEMOCRATS took over the House and Senate.  Think about it.  His first  term was great, highest approval rating ever, then the second term, Democratic control of the House and Senate, now they fight him at every turn.  Why won't they investigate the high gas prices LIKE PRESIDENT BUSH HAS ASKED THEM TO FOR THE LAST SIX MONTHS????  It was the same type of problems his father had.

  19. yeah because the whole world sees it and they show proof and videos.

  20. I believe so little that I never watch it or read newspapers or "news" magazines.  I do, however, belong to a website entitled Media Research Center, or MRC as they prefer, who is very well known for its strong challenges to the "media" on their stories and political coverage.  You can go to www.MRC.org, and you'll love it if you're a "nonbeliever" like me.  God (Whom I DO Believe in) Bless you.

  21. No. Especially when it's war.

  22. Just give a 15% discount... when they give figures
