  1. No & Yes

The mission statement does not necessarily influence decison making unless it is an ethical or moral decision. Mission is exactly that, what is the company attempting to do?

The objectives will guide in the decision making process or should because the objectives will structure the direction focus and priorities.

  2. to the extent that a mission statement is reflective of corporate culture (it should be) then it does, but not always directly. It is more of a factor in how the decisions are made and implemented, but not necessarily in the day to day decisions themselves.

They should all tie in at some point, but not necesarily as main drivers.

  3. No.  The mission statement is a lot of hype for employees and customers.  They are nothing more than a stupid platitude expounded by the president and his sycophants.

  4. Decisions have to be made to facilitate the objectives of the Corporation. How else will they succeed if they don't ? When a general question such as this is asked it should be accompanied by an example of why you are asking.
