  1. Not necessarily, because electric cars have to be recharged by power plants that burn fossil fuel, some of which is oil.

  2. Yes.  But not in their current form.  Once they can only be charged by renewable energy then they will be great.  At the moment, as has been said, anyone can plug in their electric hybrid and charge it up from a power station burning oil, coal, or a number of other non-renewable sources.

  3. No. There is no one best fix. There are no silver bullets. Electric cars will, however, be very key in breaking our dependence on oil and reducing emissions. Electric, like all the other fuels, have drawbacks. We will need to use a combination of fuels in the future.

  4. Yes,but only if they can develope batterys that will last for 300+ miles. There will have to be ''electric stations'',much like gas stations of today, where you can just pull in and replace your depleated battery for a fully charged one,and be on your way in 10 minutes.

  5. No because they are still hybrids and use petrol.

There was an electric car test done top gear called the Gwizz electric car check it out on youtube. This was fully electric and not very promising

The most interesting one was the hydrogen cars as it runs on salt water. This you can check out on you tube as well

    Very interesting

But you also need to consider fuel is not the only thing to come out of oil. Lubricants and grease are oil based as well as a lot of other things so we'll need to find replacements for these as well.

  6. We should have hybrid electricity with ethanol or e85 flex(85%ethnol 15% gas) and hydrogen feul cell electric hybrid other than the 15% gas in the e85 we are gas gas free.

  7. No there are lots of countries like some part of China,India and part of countries trying to used a human manure for petrol running cars.

  8. Energy to run car or make a car has to come from somewhere. So if you have an electric car you have to ask were does the energy come from? If you plug it in at home then forget it, as you are actually burning coal to generate the electricity. A hybrid is good but to make the car takes more energy then you will save. As well as this it costs too much to but. How much energy does to take to earn the extra money to buy the car and service the car. Currently electric cars (hydrogen or other wise) is really just an investment into technology. So we live in hope that technology will save us. Sure it will help. Basically the best place to find energy is from the sun or form growing things. So some Bio-diesel is OK. Solar is OK but he cost of panels are still high.

So let us keep investing in technology, but energy will never get any cheaper.

  9. No, there are many other answers out there. CNG (compact natural gas) is being used to run cars and it is only around a dollar a gallon depending where you live. LPG (liquid propane gas) is also used to run cars and is about a dollar and a half cheaper than gas today. Fuel cells are very promising but the debate about how to distribute them on a large scale around the nation is still there. In 10 years i believe CNG, LPG and even some fuel cell cars will be on the road everywhere, people can not afford to continue paying for gas, gas will only continue to go up.

  10. Those are actually hybrids. We have to do a number of things use our oil resources while at the same time developing alternatives.

Here is something goofy. Since everyone seems to like a conspiracy theory these days. What if opec knows oil is done in say 10 years. Would it be funny if they bought gm and ford through dummy fronts. Quit making gas cars, raise oil to an outrageous level. Then they sell electric cars keeping control.

Sorry I just felt like getting a tad creative.

  11. No, there are currently 3 mainstream forms of combustion motor Diesel, Petrol and liquid gas and some other combustion forms that burn more efficient like Hydrogen hybrid motors.

The best type of motor to solve dependency on crude would be more efficient than a standard electric motor, like a perpetual motor. The future is here but its technology isn't being used.

  12. www.teslamotors.com

  13. Only hybrids will do the trick. All-electric cars cost nearly a hundred thousand dollars each and run out of gas - pardon the pun - after a mere 25 miles and take hours to re-charge...

  14. It can help a lot in cities, if they can keep the cost down. They are not very good for longer distance travel, though. They are really good if Nuclear, Wind, and Solar is used to produce the power need to charge the batteries.

  15. Look again we are not running out of oil. Photosynthesis and plants not only recycle CO2 to O2 and the plant Keeps the C which later becomes OIL. All oil comes from Plants. The plants capture the sun light and convert the C into food for the plant . It sores the energy in the form of oil like olive oil and even grass seed oil. It is not fossil animal but fossil plants.

  16. yes I also think the goverments should be trying to help them be produced to make them affordable for people

  17. Yes, and you can have a solar powered or wind powered recharging station for your car and you don't have to plug your car into a conventional outlet.

Also they have portable solar panels that you put on your dash board that will charge your batteries..
