Do you believe Global Warming?

I don't believe a single thing Al Gore says. There is no way that Global Warming is happening. It snowed here in Wisconsin on May 10! It shouldn't snow at all, if what he is saying is true. Do you believe it? Tell me why or why not.

  1. I am reasonably certain that Al Gore never made any statement to the effect that it shouldn't snow in Wisconsin on May 10 or any other day.  You had snow on May 10 back in 1990 too. You can still have extreme cold events in a warming climate, you will just have fewer of them. Global warming is a statement about average conditions.  Weather is not the same as climate, as Robert Heinlein said "Climate is what you expect, weather is what you get."

  2. ya doesent earth go throught its own cycles even when we werent here...

  3. You are confusing weather and climate.  Climate is long-term.

I don't have time to write a lot right now, but basically we know carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, we know there is a LOT more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere because of human activities, and we know the earth is warming faster than it would naturally.

  4. In the 20th century people fought back when companies polluted water and air. We made progress.  There were pros and cons even then, but mostly people won. Global Warming is a theory. Some people believe and some don't. People can deny a theory, but can you deny the brown sky over Los Angels? Is brown air supposed to be good for you? Global Warming is a result of man made pollution according to Global Warming theorists. Do you say it is ok to continue making air dirty as long as Global Warming is not proved? Do you want clean air or dirty air? What is preventing you from choosing cleaner air? When people are empowered, the govenment can be changed. As long as we are devided, nothing happens. If you believe Global Warming or not, it comes down to this. Don't you want cleaner Earth if you have a choice? Is it wrong to enforce better emmision standards? Is it wrong to start investing alternative energy solutions? Do you think it is good for the Earth or for ourselves if we continue polluting? When do you think is the right time to stop polluting?

  5. i do not believe in man-made, man-caused global warming. if there is such, it's just a natural evolution of the earth. and we shouldn't worry too much because we too would also evolve to adapt.

  6. No way is it true. Snow in may! That doesnt show global warming at all. If anything it is global cooling. Al Gore doesn't know what he's talking about. CO2 has no direct effect on the temperature and snow in late spring shows that he's wrong. So i don't buy it at all.

  7. No.  It was a mistake.  That's why the former "global warming" people have subtly changed the term to "climate change."  This way if the climate ever changes either one degree warmer OR cooler within the next hundred years, their great-grandchildren can say, "see, I told you he was right."

  8. Climate change is happening. I just don't believe our actions are having much impact on it. The planet's climate changes throughout the centuries and will continue to do so. SUV's were not responsible for the demise of the dinosaurs or the end of the ice age. That's not to say we can't be good stewards of the planet, be responsible and look for alternative energy sources, but we also need to know when we're being duped so someone else can profit on our fear.

Any of you Liberals convinced GW is man-made and that Al Gore is a God, check my link for an interesting look at Al Gore's personal commitment to the environment and you may view his integrity differently.

  9. i dont believe in global warming.here in texas its been around 95-99 degrees, but up north its running 65-75.

  10. hard to today - it is june and 60 some degress outside

  11. no i don't. i think that the earth goes through it's own cycles. humans might have less than a 1% input. but i don't believe that global warming exists.

  12. Yes. Funky things are beginning to happen in the atmosphere that seem weird to us all.

My fifth grade teacher told me about it in1975 and my environmental science professor told me about in 1991. She spoke of the fluorocarbons in aerosol cans like canned hairspray. The latter told the class that a huge piece of ice the size of Rhode Island had broken off of the Polar Ice Caps around that time.

The hole in the ozone is like a giant magnifying glass under the sunlight directly over the Polar Ice Caps!

She also said that it was prohibited for anyone to be outside at high noon in Chile, because the sun was so dangerous to be exposed to at that time. Haven't you noticed that more people are getting skin cancer than ever before?

Whether people want to acknowledge it or not, global warming is VERY real. That is why recycling is so very important. When you recycle you may find that most of the garbage that gets picked up tends to be more the items placed in the recycling bin. Contact your local public works for more information about recycling.

Some people think it's a lot of bunk but if you have children or grandchildren, think about how doing your share in recycling now will help them in the future when they have families of their own.

Karma is as karma does. It may not happen to you directly, but it will certainly have a great impact on your children and their children and the future is not so far of as you may think.

Even if you won't be having children, recycling makes a difference globally and if everyone took the time to separate their trash before they discarded it, we would have less in our landfills.

  13. the difficulty is that if global warming is occurring and is accelerated by humans, it won't matter what we believe.

  14. Frankly, I don't really believe the Global Warming folks.  Thirty+ years ago, we had a couple of really cold winters, and the 'experts' were telling us that the planet was cooling.  Of course, the reasons for the cooling back then were the same as they give now for the warming!

I DO think we are polluting our planet WAY too much.  However, this is a worldwide problem -- not just the U.S.  I think the Global Warming folks try to make us feel guilty when other nations (China, India) are much bigger polluters than we are.

With all the recent rain and flooding in the Midwest, the Global Drowning folks will soon emerge & I'd bet the reasons for  Global Drowning will be the same as for Global Warming and Global Cooling!

The one constant with weather is its extremes!

  15. i dont wantto believe..but everything ends early or later.

  16. No I dont believe in global warming.

I DO however believe in the big business surrounding GW and the money Al Gore makes!

Call me a sceptic but I live in the UK and it is June and it is FREEZING, i needed the heating on today, we are having colder summers then ever.
