Do you believe everything happens for a reason or ...?

Is everything merely a coincendence and we just try to look for a deeper meaning when sometimes there isnt?

I mean, sometimes things just happen right? Doesnt necessarily mean there's an ulterior motive behind it?

  1. I seriously think that it everything does happen for a reason. Im not going to be a romantisist and start talking about having one relationship fail on purpose as the effect of -happening for a reason- so that one can find their 'true love' in a next relationship.. that does happen yes, but there are more pshycological issues that love. For instance, we feel pain as strongly as we do love. Having say, a loved one die is the effect of many contributing factors, but its the way it effects us, and the way we act because of it that leads us to say 'everything happens for a reason' because its the way we thought, acted or felt after their death that say, lead us to the bar on the corner where we meet one of our childhood friends. As an example :) i do believe that everything happens for a reason, but i also believe its the way that it effects us that leads to the correlating event, and how afterwards we look back and say that happened because of that..... if you get what i mean lol

    :)

  2. i think things do happen for a reason... but i don't think it's that deep.

laws of attraction comes to mind, as well as karma so... pick one...

  3. its jus dat we portray it tat way.nthin happens 4 a reason unless some person involved in event wants it to happen tat way.n anything can happen to his actions too.so most of these deja vu n supernatural events r co incidental

  4. there is a force behind everything

  5. There's a saying:

    Once is coincidence.

    Twice is happenstance.

    Three times is enemy action.

While I believe that all things have causes, that does not necessarily mean that all things have "reasons," as in "some kind of divine mystical deep plan you can't know about."

Somebody did say that to me once.  So I stomped hard on his foot and said "You can't be mad at me.  Everything happens 'for a reason.'"

  6. Things happen as a result of previous actions. The present is the result of the past, and the cause of the future. It doesn't mean there's anything behind coincidences. Our brains are tuned into finding patterns between things, and we often attribute false significance to chance events.

"theres no doubt that nature (planet earth) is aware of itself and continues to survive."

Oh there's doubt ... truckloads of it.

  7. everything happens for a reason on three circumstances.

    1. the universe is aware of its self

    2. you are aware of your self

    3. you believe that everything happens for a reason

theres no doubt that nature (planet earth) is aware of itself and continues to survive. Its like a giant brain and we are only nuerons in it, making small decisions in a bigger enviroment. When you are aware of the small contribution you make to the world, to the enviroment, you will see your actions take form in a reaction.

  8. Things happen to you based on your personal actions.

You have the conscious choice to be happy, sad, or angry.

You have the conscious choice to do or don't do.

Everything happens for a reason based upon how you chose to act.

  9. Mostly these days its based on one of two things.......

    ......you have enough money.....

    ......you don't have enough money.......

  10. It is easy to see reason in retrospect I think.

Either way it doesn't mater does it?

  11. I agree with Katie.

"You have the conscious choice to be happy, sad, or angry.

You have the conscious choice to do or don't do"

For example, I've heard many times my mom tell me not to leave the glass of water on top of the table because it will fall down and I my reply of course is that it won't happen but since she already told me it will fall my conscious gets tricked and I might act in a way to make a fall or I might just try to ignore the fact that she told me that it was going to fall down and it doesn't fall.
